Due to continued growth, we’re looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our expanding Design team in Warrington. In this senior role, you’ll take a leading role in the delivery of Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (EICA) designs across a range of water and wastewater projects. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you’ll provide technical expertise and guidance while ensuring designs are safe, practical, buildable and delivered to the highest standards. Our projects cover both infrastructure and non-infrastructure schemes, across all stages of the design lifecycle, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design and construction support. Projects include pumping stations, treatment works, mechanical screening, chemical dosing and sludge handling systems. As a senior member of the team, you’ll also play an important part in supporting and mentoring engineers, reviewing technical outputs and helping drive best practice across the Design function. Key responsibilities...
Lead the development and delivery of innovative, safe and value-for-money EICA design solutions aligned with project briefs and client requirements. Take technical ownership of projects through feasibility, optioneering, preliminary and detailed design stages. Prepare, check and approve engineering designs, calculations, drawings, specifications, technical reports and contract documentation. Provide technical guidance and support to engineers and other members of the wider multi-disciplinary Design team. Undertake site surveys and assessments to understand existing assets and develop practical, safe and buildable solutions. Identify design risks and opportunities and ensure these are effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle. Support bid preparation, feasibility studies, inspections, design estimates and project cost planning. Contribute to project planning and programming, monitoring design resources, budgets and programme delivery. Ensure designs comply with relevant legislation, industry standards, CDM Regulations and Avove’s integrated management system.
Skills & experience... We’re looking for an experienced Senior electrical engineer who can demonstrate:
Significant experience delivering electrical and instrumentation designs for complex water and wastewater process plant, including pumping stations and associated equipment. Experience across the full design lifecycle, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design, site surveys and construction support. Strong technical leadership skills, with experience owning complex designs, reviewing technical outputs and mentoring less experienced engineers. Strong knowledge of BS 7671, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, with Amtech or similar electrical design software experience desirable. Good understanding of civil and mechanical engineering interfaces within multi-disciplinary projects, with the ability to develop safe, practical and buildable solutions. Strong project and stakeholder management skills, including managing multiple workstreams, estimating design effort and engaging with clients, contractors and senior stakeholders. Full UK driving licence. Previous experience working on United Utilities frameworks or projects would be advantageous.
