Purpose of Position

Awin's Product Development department is responsible for all stages of the product lifecycle – from ideation to market release, ongoing operation and continuous improvement.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work on Publisher Web – the web experience publishers and creators rely on every day to discover advertisers, join programmes, build links, track performance and grow their partnerships. Publishers are one side of our partner network, and many of the best opportunities to grow activated partnerships sit on their side.

This is a full-stack role. You will own features end to end: from the Angular UI, through API design and Java backend services, down to the AWS infrastructure they run on. You use AI tools as naturally as any other part of a modern engineering toolkit.

Working within one of our agile engineering teams, this role reports to an Engineering Manager and works closely with Product, UX and other engineering teams across the Publisher Tribe.

Key Tasks

  • Build and evolve publisher web applications in Angular on a micro-frontend architecture, using our design system.
  • Design clear, consistent and well-documented APIs that serve web and mobile clients.
  • Build, maintain and operate Java backend services.
  • Own the infrastructure your services run on in AWS, using Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Migrate legacy publisher functionality to the new platform, untangle shared publisher/advertiser apps and help decommission what is no longer needed.
  • Use AI agents across the whole delivery lifecycle: coding, reviews, testing, migrations, documentation, and contribute reusable AI skills, templates and practices for the wider team.
  • Work with Product and UX to shape solutions, not just execute requirements; challenge scope and find pragmatic paths to value.
  • Raise the quality bar through code reviews, automated testing, security, performance and accessibility.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely fashion.
  • Mentor other engineers and share knowledge across teams.

Skills & Expertise

  • 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience, with a track record of delivering full-stack features end to end.
  • Strong experience with Angular (or similar framework) and TypeScript.
  • Strong experience with Java (Spring Boot or similar).
  • Solid API design skills: RESTful APIs, contract-first design (e.g. OpenAPI), versioning, error handling, authentication and authorisation.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS (e.g. ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB/RDS, S3/CloudFront) and Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform).
  • AI-native way of working: daily use of AI coding agents (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor) and the judgement to steer, verify and review what they produce. You can give concrete examples of how AI has changed the way you work.
  • Strong communication skills in English, comfortable working with technical and non-technical colleagues across locations.

Job Application Tip

We do not expect candidates to tick all the boxes 100%. If there is anything missing or that you have not done before, do not shy away from applying. It simply means Awin might be a greater learning opportunity for you.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
