Axle is seeking a Scientist to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) located in Bethesda, MD.

Deliverables:

  • Clean Equipment - Daily
  • Meet with lab members to present updates - Weekly

Statement of Work Details:

  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshoot issues, and update procedural manuals and methods for the Flow Cytometry Core. - 1
  • Perform a wide range of procedures and techniques to include, analytical flow cytometry, cell sorting flow cytometry, monoclonal fluorescent conjugation and panel staining procedures. - 2
  • Interface with researchers, suppliers, reference labs, and equipment personnel to support operational needs. - 3
  • Supports the planning and execution of research experiments in the context of the laboratory's overall research program.
  • Develop assays to support development and/or QC testing as needed to support the flow cytometry core facilities and analytical programs.
  • Supports laboratory staff on research projects and techniques.
  • Draft standard operating procedures and update as needed.
  • Interact with students, post-doctoral fellows and non-doctoral research technicians on experimental design and laboratory-based methodologies.
  • Maintains laboratory equipment and the training of others in their use.
  • Assists in maintaining adequate space and facilities for ongoing and projected research studies.
  • Ensure safe laboratory practices are being implemented- Assist with lab supply inventory and procurement.
  • Evaluates, analyzes and interprets research data, communicates results and methods in reports, presentations, and manuscripts.
  • Identify and address unexpected test discrepancies, recommending solutions.
  • Analyze laboratory testing reports and maintain detailed logs of all work-related activities.
  • Attend and present at the annual International Society for Advancement of Cytometry (ISAC) meeting.
