About Babel Street

Babel Street is a trusted technology partner for advanced identity intelligence and risk operations. We deliver AI-powered data and analytics solutions that help government, defense, law-enforcement, and commercial organizations identify threats, understand risk, and make decisions with greater confidence. Our team works across languages, markets, and disciplines to support high-stakes missions and help make the world safer.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Japan-based Sales Development Representative to join our Marketing team and help create qualified pipeline across Japan and selected Asia-Pacific markets. Japan is the primary market for this role. Regional activity will focus on clearly prioritized campaigns, accounts, events, and partner initiatives where ownership and follow-up expectations are defined.

As an early point of contact for prospective customers, you will combine thoughtful research, responsive follow-up, and relevant outreach to start credible business conversations. You will work closely with Sales and Marketing to understand target accounts, engage the right stakeholders, qualify needs, and hand off well-developed opportunities. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys building relationships, learning complex technology, and working in a collaborative international environment.

What You Will Do

  • Research target organizations, sectors, and stakeholders to support focused prospecting and account-based outreach.
  • Engage prospective customers through phone, email, professional networks, digital channels, events, and other appropriate methods.
  • Respond promptly to inbound inquiries and leads generated through marketing campaigns, content, webinars, events, and partners.
  • Conduct initial discovery to understand business or mission needs, current priorities, relevant stakeholders, timing, and appropriate next steps.
  • Qualify opportunities and schedule productive discovery meetings or demonstrations for Account Executives and other customer-facing colleagues.
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing on account plans, messaging, campaigns, event outreach, and post-event follow-up.
  • Nurture prospects who are not yet ready for a Sales conversation and maintain relevant, professional engagement over time.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of contacts, activities, lead sources, qualification findings, and next steps in Salesforce.
  • Support selected APAC campaigns and partner-led activities when the market approach, language path, Sales owner, and follow-up plan are clear.
  • Share market observations and prospect feedback to help improve messaging, campaigns, and go-to-market execution.

What You Bring

  • Professional fluency in Japanese and business-level English, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
  • Experience in sales development, business development, inside sales, demand generation, account development, or another B2B customer-facing role.
  • A record of creating qualified meetings, opportunities, or pipeline through inbound follow-up, outbound prospecting, or both.
  • Ability to research organizations, identify relevant stakeholders, and tailor communication to different audiences.
  • Strong listening and questioning skills, with the judgment to distinguish genuine customer needs from early interest.
  • Comfort learning and discussing technology-driven solutions and connecting capabilities to customer priorities and outcomes.
  • Experience using Salesforce or a comparable CRM, with strong attention to activity records, lead status, source attribution, and next actions.
  • Self-direction, persistence, organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • A collaborative working style and the ability to coordinate effectively with colleagues in Japan and across global teams.
  • Authorization to work in Japan.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in enterprise software, SaaS, data, analytics, cybersecurity, risk intelligence, or a related technology field.
  • Experience engaging Japanese government, public-sector, regulated-industry, or large-enterprise organizations.
  • Familiarity with account-based marketing or account-based sales development.
  • Experience supporting events, webinars, partner campaigns, or multi-channel prospecting programs.
  • Interest in OSINT, identity intelligence, risk, AI, multilingual data, or mission-driven technology.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means creating credible engagement that develops into qualified Sales conversations and pipeline. You will be known for timely follow-up, sound qualification, relevant communication, dependable collaboration, and accurate CRM records. You will balance consistent activity with quality and judgment, ensuring that prospects receive a professional first experience with Babel Street and that Sales receives useful context for each handoff.

Why Join Babel Street

  • Work with industry-leading risk-intelligence solutions designed to support important government and commercial missions.
  • Collaborate with a driven, highly skilled team across Japan, APAC, the United States, the United Kingdom, and other global locations.
  • Build expertise in AI, data, identity, OSINT, risk, and international go-to-market execution.
  • Contribute ideas and market insight in an environment that values initiative, learning, and disciplined execution.
  • Develop a foundation for continued growth across Sales, Marketing, or go-to-market roles.

Working Requirements

  • This is a full-time position based in Japan.
  • The role requires regular collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders across time zones.
  • Domestic travel and occasional travel within APAC may be required for customer meetings, partner activity, and events.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
