The posting

F&B Floor Manager

Babylonstoren is looking for a passionate, energetic and detail-driven F&B Floor Manager to join our hospitality team.

This role is suited to someone who genuinely loves people, food, service and the rhythm of a busy restaurant floor. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, naturally warm with guests and strong enough to lead a team with clear standards, consistency and care.

The F&B Floor Manager plays a key role in the daily guest experience. This person must be visible on the floor, hands-on during service and able to guide the team before guests need to ask. The role requires a balance of personality, polish, operational discipline and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily floor operations during service to ensure a smooth, warm and professional guest experience.

• Support, guide and motivate the front-of-house team before, during and after service.

• Ensure guests are welcomed, seated, served and followed up with in line with Babylonstoren’s standards.

• Maintain strong communication between the floor, kitchen, bar, hosts and management team.

• Read the floor actively and identify service risks before they become guest complaints.

• Handle guest feedback, special requests and service recovery in a calm and professional manner.

• Ensure tables, service areas, menus, uniforms, ambience and guest-facing details are consistently neat and polished.

• Support the team with product knowledge, menu understanding, service sequence and daily briefings.

• Assist with group bookings, special occasions and high-volume service periods.

• Uphold hygiene, health and safety, cleanliness and 5S standards.

• Encourage a positive team culture where standards are high, communication is clear and guests remain the priority.

• Lead by example through presence, pace, professionalism and attention to detail.

Requirements

• Previous experience in restaurant floor management, hospitality supervision or a similar front-of-house leadership role.

• Strong food and beverage knowledge, with a genuine interest in hospitality and service.

• Excellent Afrikaans and English.

• Natural warmth, confidence and strong guest interaction skills.

• High attention to detail and pride in presentation.

• Ability to remain calm, focused and solutions-driven under pressure.

• Strong communication and team leadership ability.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

• Ability to work hospitality hours, including weekends, public holidays and evenings where required.

• Own or reliable transport is essential.

Personal profile

The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality and takes pride in the small details that shape a guest’s experience. They are warm without being casual, confident without being arrogant and structured without becoming rigid.

They should be the type of person who notices a table that needs resetting, a guest waiting too long, a team member losing focus or a small service detail that is not quite right, and then acts on it immediately.

Success in this role

The F&B Floor Manager is successful when the floor feels calm, the team feels supported and guests feel genuinely looked after. Service should feel natural, polished and consistent, even when the restaurant is busy.

Only candidates who meet the minimum job and employment equity requirements will be contacted for an interview.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
