Junior IT Technician
Babylonstoren has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic IT Intern to join our IT team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or someone completing a relevant IT qualification who would like to gain practical experience in a hospitality environment.
The successful candidate will assist with day-to-day IT support across the farm, including hotel, restaurant and back-office operations. Working alongside experienced IT team members, you will gain exposure to computer hardware, networks, Microsoft 365, server administration and hospitality systems such as Oracle Hospitality Simphony POS and OPERA PMS.
Requirements
- A relevant IT qualification, or currently working towards a diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- A basic understanding of computer hardware, software installation and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with networking concepts, including TCP/IP, Wi-Fi and network connectivity.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a helpful and service-oriented approach.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to stay organised.
- A willingness to learn, ask questions and develop practical technical skills.
- The ability to work independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively within a team.
Responsibilities
- Assist employees with everyday IT queries and troubleshoot basic hardware, software and connectivity issues.
- Help install, configure and maintain desktops, laptops, printers and other IT equipment.
- Assist with Microsoft 365 support, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive.
- Support user account setup and access administration under the guidance of the IT team.
- Assist with network and Wi-Fi troubleshooting, escalating complex issues when necessary.
- Help support hotel and restaurant systems, including POS terminals, printers and related devices.
- Gain practical exposure to Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy.
- Assist with routine system checks, software updates, backup monitoring and IT equipment records.
- Log support requests and document troubleshooting steps and resolutions.
- Help employees understand basic system functions and good IT practices.
- Follow IT security procedures and handle user information confidentially.
The following would be advantageous
- Previous IT exposure through practical coursework, personal projects, volunteering or an internship.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Windows Server or Active Directory.
- Exposure to hospitality systems such as Simphony POS or OPERA PMS.
- Basic knowledge of PowerShell, virtualisation or backup solutions.
- Relevant entry-level IT certifications.
