The posting

ABOUT BAD MARKETING:

We're a team of 130+ passionate leaders and creatives who have worked diligently to make BAD Marketing one of the largest and most robust Growth Marketing Agencies in the world. At the core of our philosophy is the belief that excellence stems from a united team working toward a common objective: to not only help our clients grow profitably but also to provide them with an experience they can’t find anywhere else.

We specialize in local lead generation, e-commerce, and information marketing, catering to clients that span from auto and local shop owners to online consumer product brand owners, online gurus selling courses or coaching, and more.

Our approach to success involves more than just Bold And Disruptive strategies. We invest in our team through extensive training, continuous support for growth and learning, and the cultivation of a happy and confident company culture. For us, finding fulfillment in your career is just as crucial as excelling in it.

ABOUT THIS POSITION:

We're looking for a Tracking and Attribution Specialist - someone who can own the measurement layer across our info/coaching division and make sure every number our media buyers optimize against and our strategists report to clients is actually true.

You'll serve all pods across 20-30 clients, each with a different setup, across mostly paid platform (some email) traffic. We run on Meta, Google/YouTube, and TikTok, and on whatever platform a client needs next. Client reporting runs through our custom dashboards/system, and our clients use a mix of third-party attribution tools (Hyros primarily, but some other similar platforms). You report to the Director of Operations, who owns the overall systems architecture. You own the tracking and attribution domain within it.

This is a specialist role within our martech function. You'll work alongside our MarTech team, who also handle tracking work, but tracking and attribution is your specialty and your domain. You're the person the division comes to when something about tracking is unclear, broken, or new. When we launch a client on a paid platform nobody here has used, you're the one who investigates it, learns it, and comes back with how we should set up the tracking. When Meta, Hyros, and Stripe all show different purchase counts, you're the one who can explain why and which number to trust.

Tracking breaks quietly. An event stops firing after a page edit, deduplication fails, a UTM gets mistyped on an email. You're not waiting for a media buyer to notice two weeks later - you've built the monitoring that catches it first. And because you're working across 20-30 clients, every setup, fix, and change you make gets documented so anyone on the team can pick it up.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:

  • Media buyers and strategists trust the data because you've verified it - not because they assumed it was right
  • Broken events get caught by your monitoring, not by someone wondering why performance dropped
  • New launches go live with verified tracking, and you keep verifying it after launch as pages, platforms, and integrations change
  • Every client has a current tracking record in their funnel bible - what's installed, how it's configured, what changed, and why - clear enough that someone else could troubleshoot from it
  • UTMs are consistent across paid and organic, so organic traffic is actually attributable
  • When platform and attribution numbers don't line up, you explain the gap in plain language a strategist can repeat to a client
  • When we move onto a new platform, you've already figured out how to track it
  • You fix the same problem once. The second time, it becomes a checklist, a template, or an automated check

A DAY IN THIS ROLE:

Morning: Review what your automated event health checks flagged overnight across clients - broken events, deduplication issues, Event Match Quality drops, unexpected volume changes. Triage by business impact. Check the ClickUp queue and Slack for anything urgent from media buyers or strategists.

Throughout the day:

  • Implement and fix tracking - GTM tags and triggers, Meta CAPI (including the CRM-side setup an integration needs), Google enhanced conversions, GA4, TikTok and YouTube conversion tracking, attribution platform connections
  • Run tracking checks on new launches before they go live, and on live funnels when something changes
  • Work through your audit rotation - take a client's full setup and come back with what's broken, what's at risk, and what to fix first
  • Explain discrepancies to strategists and media buyers, and push back when a requested setup is going to produce bad data
  • Update each client's tracking record as you make changes - not at the end of the week

Weekly rhythm: Cross-client event health review, UTM hygiene checks on new campaigns and emails, and a watch on platform tracking changes that could affect our setups. Monthly, you reconcile platform, attribution, and source data for each active client.

End of day: You can answer: Did I act on every monitoring exception? Is every change I made today documented? Does anyone need a status update from me?

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years in a marketing technology, marketing operations, or technical marketing role, with tracking and attribution as your core strength - ideally at an agency or across multiple accounts
  • Deep Meta tracking knowledge - Pixel vs. Conversions API, standard vs. custom events, deduplication, Event Match Quality, Events Manager diagnostics
  • Google Tag Manager - you build and debug containers, data layers, and triggers yourself
  • GA4 and Google Ads conversion tracking, including enhanced conversions
  • Tracking experience on at least one platform beyond Meta and Google (TikTok, YouTube, or similar)
  • Working knowledge of Hyros and at least one other third-party attribution platform (Triple Whale, Northbeam, or similar)
  • UTM strategy, click IDs, and cross-domain tracking - you understand how parameters pass from click to CRM to report
  • Reporting literacy - you understand how tracking data becomes a report and can spec what a report needs
  • Comfortable reading documentation and figuring out unfamiliar platforms independently
  • Clear written communication. You operate in Slack and ClickUp, not meetings, and you need to explain technical issues so non-technical people can act on them

Strongly preferred:

  • Experience in direct response, info/coaching, or performance marketing environments
  • SQL and BigQuery familiarity/working knowledge
  • CRM integrations for server-side events (HubSpot, GoHighLevel, or similar)
  • GoHighLevel or ClickFunnels experience

YOU'LL THRIVE HERE IF:

  • You want to own a domain/specialty
  • You document by default - you'd rather write it down once than explain it three times
  • You build systems, not one-offs. Solving the same problem twice bothers you
  • You understand how a broken event affects campaign optimization and the numbers clients see, not just the tag itself
  • You're energized by figuring out platforms you've never used
  • You use AI heavily for audits, documentation, debugging, and monitoring; you're open about how, and you know where it gets tracking wrong

THIS MAY NOT BE FOR YOU IF:

  • You think this role is mainly CRM implementation, email automation, or workflow building - those are part of martech, but in this role they're the exception, not the job
  • Your tracking experience is mostly installing pixels and tags someone else configured - you haven't set up or debugged Conversions API, GTM, or server-side events yourself
  • You haven't had to reconcile numbers across ad platforms and attribution tools, or you're not interested in why they disagree
  • You'd rather fix things as they're reported than build monitoring that catches them first
  • Documentation feels like extra work
  • You need training or detailed instructions before you can work in an unfamiliar platform
  • You'd rather keep your AI use quiet than show us your workflow
  • Written async communication isn't your strength

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
