Capital Markets Associate Job Description

Bain Capital North America Private Equity (NAPE) has a 40+ year track record of partnering with management teams to build and grow great companies. The team has deep industry expertise, a hands-on approach to value creation, and a long history of strong performance across market cycles.

The Capital Markets team is central to this effort. The Capital Markets professionals are responsible for driving financial engineering across all of NAPE’s investments, collaborating closely with the deal team on every step of the investment process, from entry to exit. The Capital Markets group is seeking a top-performing leveraged finance banker to join its lean and growing team in Boston, though the team may have flexibility on location. This is a unique opportunity to take on significant responsibility and get broad exposure across both debt and equity capital markets, work closely with senior investors, portfolio company leadership, lenders, banks and external counsel to effectuate NAPE’s most exciting transactions.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • New leveraged buyout deals:Help obtain, structure, and negotiate financing commitments Assist in marketing, syndication, and pricing of new loan and high yield offerings
  • Portfolio companies:Help optimize capital structures through refinancings, recapitalizations Manage extensions, amendments, and lender negotiations
  • Public market exits:Drive initial public offerings processes Execute transactions to monetize stakes in public companies Perform analysis for senior management about the optimal time for exit across the firm’s portfolio companies
  • Portfolio risk managementContribute to risk oversight for the portfolio, including managing fund liabilities and margin loan portfolio Facilitate mitigation of interest rate risk, FX hedging, and commodity risk
  • External relationships:Work with portfolio co. CEOs/CFOs across variety of topics Help develop and oversee relationships with bankers, lawyers, other advisors

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years’ experience in leveraged finance (origination and/or capital markets) with left-lead and committed financing deal experience
  • Additional experience in ECM or corporate finance/investment banking/M&A preferred
  • Exceptional business analytic and quantitative skills
  • Excellent professional and academic track record
  • Ability to operate with limited supervision
  • Highly analytical and strategic thinker
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Dedicated team player with a strong sense of ownership

REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • Strong academic record at a top undergraduate school

Compensation:

Expected Annual Base Salary $150,000

Actual base salary will be determined by a wide range of factors including but not limited to role, function, level, experience, qualifications, and geographic location. In addition to a competitive base salary, this position may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based upon factors such as individual impact, team and firm performance.
