The posting

Do you enjoy working with industry-leading technology?

Do you love design challenging components and understand how they can impact the world?

Join a team that delivers essential projects!

At Baker Hughes, we are transforming the future of energy and our IET business provides industry-leading products and services that optimize extraction, production and processing of energy, address climate change and provide industrial asset management services. As a team, we create value with impactful decisions by effectively connecting ideas and people; we champion a proactive attitude to unlock full potential in each of our projects.

Partner with the best

You will be responsible for the Rotating Equipment design for Turbomachinery products used in energy production, transformation, recovery and decarbonization. Your major focus will be on mechanical disciplines related to Gas Turbine rotating components, e.g. rotors (wheels, spacers, shafts, etc.) along with axial compressor and turbine blades.

You will have the opportunity to introduce new technology to enhance company profitability and productivity and also to work close to supply chain to drive the continuous improvement strategy. You will be responsible for maintaining and incorporating new cost-effective solutions for design.

As a Lead Engineer for Gas Turbine Rotating Equipment team, you should look to components mechanical design as a full discipline and, in details, you will be responsible for:

  • Modeling, drafting, BOM and manufacturability of the designed components.
  • Drive the design through finite element analyses majoring on lifing assessment (e.g. creep, oxidation, wear LCF and crack propagation) and aero mechanics related topics (e.g. modal and forced response for HCF).
  • Direct involvement on test activities starting from purposes and requirements up to the cycle end with data match and models update.
  • Own cost models and should cost analyses.
  • Optimize and simplify the internal standard solutions along with design tools, promoting and developing new ideas.
  • Ensuring Site/Shop support (L3, NCR/SDR dispositions, field & testing issues)
  • Standard maintenance and fleet support (drawing updates, NCA/RCA).
  • Collaborate with global teams and other functions to meet the targets provided.

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have MSc in Aerospace, Energetic, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Have a proven working experience in an engineering position for mechanical design.
  • Good knowledge of CAD and CAE software (e.g. Ansys) along with at least basic programming concepts (Matlab and/or Python)
  • Have developed interpersonal and communication skills; able to influence and motivate others.
  • Show strong instincts, tireless research, exact attention to detail and innovative spirit.
  • Be target oriented, self-starter, autonomous with an entrepreneur’s mindset.
  • Be able and willing to travel worldwide up to 10% of the time for short customer meetings and/or site/test bed support.
  • Be fluent in spoken and written English.

Would represent a plus:

  • Meaningful prior experience in Turbomachinery design, with special focus on rotating equipment components design.
  • Knowledge of Heat Transfer and Rotordynamic principles.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
