About the role

Baker McKenzie is looking for Business Development Managers to join our Asia Pacific Business Development, Marketing & Communications (BDMC) team.

Working closely with partners, lawyers and BD colleagues across the region, you will help develop and deliver business development strategies and initiatives focused on growing client relationships, identifying new opportunities and strengthening our market position.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and delivering regional business development plans and initiatives
  • Driving client development and identifying opportunities for growth and cross-selling
  • Leading and supporting major pitches and proposals
  • Developing thought leadership, client campaigns, events and other profile-raising initiatives
  • Supporting key client relationships and account planning
  • Monitoring market and client developments to identify commercial opportunities
  • Working closely with regional and global colleagues across pitches, client development, communications, marketing, pricing and events
  • Managing multiple projects and stakeholders across Asia Pacific

The roles offer the opportunity to work across a regional business, partnering with senior stakeholders and colleagues across multiple markets.

About the candidate

We are looking for experienced BD professionals who are commercially minded, proactive and comfortable working with senior stakeholders.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Strong business development or marketing experience within a law firm or other professional services environment
  • Experience working directly with senior stakeholders on both strategy and execution
  • Good understanding of client development, pitches and proposals, thought leadership, events and strategic marketing
  • Strong commercial judgement and the confidence to suggest and challenge ideas where appropriate
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to build relationships across teams, offices and cultures
  • The ability to work independently and take ownership of projects and initiatives

About the team

Our BDMC team works closely with partners and leadership across the Firm to grow our business and client relationships. The team supports the Firm in winning, retaining and growing client work through business development strategy, pitches, thought leadership, client relationship management and market and client intelligence.
