Job Summary

Courtyard by Marriott Houston Pearland is seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Assistant General Manager (AGM) to join our leadership team.

The ideal candidate is a hospitality professional who leads by example, takes ownership of daily operations, and is passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences while developing a strong and successful team.

The Assistant General Manager will work closely with the General Manager to oversee all aspects of hotel operations, including guest satisfaction, associate development, financial performance, brand compliance, and overall property maintenance.

We are looking for someone who is proactive, organized, results-driven, and comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced hotel environment.

Key Responsibilities

Hotel Operations & Guest Satisfaction

  • Assist the General Manager in overseeing daily hotel operations, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and Engineering.
  • Ensure all departments consistently meet Marriott brand standards and company expectations.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction scores, online reviews, and guest feedback, taking appropriate action to improve the overall guest experience.
  • Respond to guest concerns professionally and promptly, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
  • Conduct regular property inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety, and maintenance standards are maintained.
  • Serve as the Manager on Duty as needed and take responsibility for hotel operations in the General Manager's absence.

Leadership & Associate Development

  • Lead, motivate, coach, and develop hotel associates and department leaders.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training new team members.
  • Ensure associates are held accountable for performance, attendance, service standards, and company policies.
  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, communication, and professional development.
  • Assist with scheduling, payroll management, and maintaining appropriate staffing levels.
  • Conduct associate coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective action when necessary.

Financial & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Assist the General Manager in achieving hotel revenue, profitability, and operational performance goals.
  • Monitor departmental expenses, labor costs, purchasing, and inventory controls.
  • Review daily financial reports, revenue performance, and operational results.
  • Assist with monthly financial reporting, forecasting, and budget management.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency while maintaining guest service standards.
  • Ensure proper cash handling, billing, and internal control procedures are followed.

Brand Standards & Property Management

  • Ensure compliance with Marriott brand standards, company policies, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance initiatives and coordinate with Engineering to address property deficiencies.
  • Assist with brand inspections, quality assurance reviews, and operational audits.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for guests and associates.
  • Work collaboratively with Sales and Revenue Management to support occupancy, ADR, and overall hotel performance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–3 years of hotel management or supervisory experience required.
  • Previous experience as an Assistant General Manager, Front Office Manager, Operations Manager, or similar hotel leadership position preferred.
  • Marriott brand experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of hotel operations, guest satisfaction, labor management, and financial performance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple departments and competing priorities.
  • Experience with hotel property management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings as business needs require.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high operational standards.
