This role provides dedicated operational ownership for centralized purchasing workflows and enterprise inventory monitoring using Omnicell IOS virtual inventory and other designated pharmacy purchasing systems.

The position is responsible for improving consistency, monitoring, standardization, and response time related to identified purchasing and inventory opportunities across multiple facilities. This role helps drive more disciplined medication procurement practices, supports medication availability, promotes contract compliance, reduces inventory waste, and strengthens enterprise stewardship of pharmacy resources. The System Pharmacy Technician – Centralized Purchasing serves as a key operational partner in system efforts to standardize purchasing processes, improve visibility to inventory-related opportunities, and enhance the value of existing pharmacy technology investments.

Job Responsibilities

• Supports system-wide medication purchasing and replenishment activities in alignment with pharmacy policies, wholesaler processes, and organizational expectations. • Monitors Omnicell IOS virtual inventory dashboards, enterprise reports, and exception queues to identify trends, imbalances, shortage risks, expiration concerns, and opportunities for action across multiple facilities. • Provides centralized oversight of purchasing-related follow-up to improve consistency, timeliness, and accountability for identified inventory opportunities. • Implements standardization of purchasing workflows, replenishment processes, and inventory control practices across system pharmacy operations. • Works with system pharmacy leadership in maintaining appropriate inventory levels for targeted medications based on utilization trends, shortage risk, and operational priorities. • Coordinates with pharmacists, pharmacy leaders, site-based teams, wholesalers, and vendors regarding shortages, backorders, substitutions, urgent purchasing needs, and resolution of supply issues. • Identifies redistribution and transfer opportunities across locations, when appropriate, to reduce waste, improve inventory utilization, and minimize emergency purchasing. • Monitors product expirations, slow-moving inventory, and excess stock to reduce avoidable write-offs and support better inventory turns. • Promotes adherence to contracted purchasing channels, preferred products, and standardized medication procurement practices across the system. • Responsible for item maintenance, purchasing documentation, inventory records, and other data elements necessary to support centralized purchasing operations. • Prepares system-level reports, summaries, and tracking tools related to purchasing activity, identified opportunities, action follow-up, and operational performance. • Provides insight on implementation and ongoing optimization of centralized purchasing strategies designed to improve visibility, consistency, and financial stewardship. • Collaborates with system pharmacy leadership to identify and support savings opportunities related to drug waste reduction, purchasing standardization, inventory optimization, and labor efficiency. • Escalates significant purchasing, shortage, or inventory issues to appropriate pharmacy leadership in a timely manner. • Performs other duties as assigned.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
