The posting

Job Summary:

BARBRI is seeking experienced legal educators, attorneys, and assessment writers to develop high-quality multiple-choice questions for students preparing for the NextGen Bar Exam. This part-time, limited-term independent contractor role focuses on creating application-based assessments that require learners to analyze facts and apply legal principles rather than simply recall legal rules. Authors will collaborate with BARBRI's content experts to develop content aligned with the NextGen exam blueprint, learning objectives, and assessment methodology. Successful candidates are strong legal writers, skilled assessment developers, and detail-oriented professionals who thrive in a collaborative editorial environment.

This is a part-time, limited-term independent contractor role. Compensation is paid on a per-question basis for completed and accepted submissions. As an independent contractor position, this role is not eligible for employee benefits.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for current or future employer sponsorship. This role does not offer visa sponsorship, and temporary work authorization is not eligible.

Location: Remote Salary: $60 per accepted question

Job Responsibilities:

· Draft NextGen-style multiple-choice questions that assess the application of foundational legal concepts in realistic fact patterns

· Develop clear, accurate, and well-reasoned answer explanations that explain why the correct answer is correct and why alternative answers are incorrect

· Ensure all content aligns with assigned learning objectives, subject matter specifications, and the NextGen Bar Exam content scope

· Create legally sound and pedagogically effective distractors that reflect common errors in legal reasoning

· Revise and refine content based on feedback from BARBRI content experts and editors

· Follow BARBRI's content development, editorial, style, and formatting guidelines

· Maintain accuracy, consistency, and quality across all assigned content

· Meet established deadlines and production schedules

· Collaborate professionally with subject matter experts, editors, and content development teams

· Perform quality reviews to identify and correct doctrinal, logical, grammatical, and formatting issues

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

· Successful passage of a U.S. bar examination

· Strong knowledge of foundational legal doctrine and legal analysis

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Demonstrated ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly, accurately, and concisely

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to content quality

· Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments simultaneously

· Ability to follow detailed content, editorial, and assessment-writing guidelines

· Professional responsiveness to feedback and collaborative review processes

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

· Familiarity with the NextGen Bar Exam framework, testing methodology, and content scope

· Experience drafting multiple-choice questions or other legal assessments

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
