Job Summary:

Reporting to the IT Director, you’ll work on-site in Dubuque, with frequent local travel to our ready-mix and aggregate plants across Eastern Iowa, Southwest Wisconsin, and Northwest Illinois. You’ll start on the frontline help desk, learning how BARD operates by helping the people who run it. You’ll fix what you can by phone, remote session, or in person and route the rest to the right teammate. Your ongoing challenge: solve today’s problems and automate away tomorrow’s repeat work, starting with self-service for the most common tickets.

Job Description:

Who We Are

At BARD Materials, we transform materials responsibly to build better lives, communities, and country. We’re a values-driven, family-owned company that leads with integrity, innovation, and a people-first mindset. As a trusted provider of ready-mix concrete and aggregates, our success comes from our commitment to strong relationships, operational excellence, and delivering quality products with purpose.

Our small, senior IT team builds its own applications and puts AI tools in the hands of people across the company, and we plan to do more of both. We’re hiring an IT Analyst to keep technology running, help people adopt new tools, and grow into the data and application work behind them.

The Job

Reporting to the IT Director, you’ll work on-site in Dubuque, with frequent local travel to our ready-mix and aggregate plants across Eastern Iowa, Southwest Wisconsin, and Northwest Illinois. You’ll start on the frontline help desk, learning how BARD operates by helping the people who run it. You’ll fix what you can by phone, remote session, or in person and route the rest to the right teammate. Your ongoing challenge: solve today’s problems and automate away tomorrow’s repeat work, starting with self-service for the most common tickets.

What you’ll do

  • Own the help desk in Jira: answer the help desk line, triage and assign tickets, and keep the queue moving.
  • Support Windows, Microsoft 365, Teams Phone, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and business applications.
  • Triage truck tablet issues, fix the basics remotely, and route most in-cab work to our field technician.
  • Build, deploy, and hand off computers with our Intune and PDQ tooling, and enroll and replace truck tablets through MDM software.
  • Run account onboarding and offboarding, keep office technology stocked, and keep hardware inventory accurate.
  • Document fixes in ticket notes and help articles, spot recurring problems, and build and own the automations that eliminate them.
  • Join the IT after-hours on-call rotation after training.

How the role grows

Your responsibilities and pay may grow as you demonstrate new skills, rather than on a fixed timeline. Training employees on our AI tools and in-house applications and helping departments adopt them will be a key early focus as your role expands beyond the help desk. Over time, you may also support data and applications alongside our Business Intelligence Engineer.

Our core values

Experience matters, but we hire just as much for values fit, motivation, and the ability to learn. We look for people whose personal values align with ours:

  • Be Humble
  • Build and Maintain Relationships
  • Choose to be Positive and Resilient
  • Always Learn, Do, and Improve
  • Own Safety
  • Commit to Quality
  • Focus on the Customer
  • Act as One BARD

Who you are

You take initiative, stay organized, and follow through. You want to understand the problem behind a request, and inefficiency bothers you enough to fix the process, not just the symptom. You enjoy helping people and explain technology plainly. You take pushback without taking it personally, and you can hold the line on a good decision while staying kind. You want to grow into more technical work and are willing to earn it by being excellent at the basics first, then automating many of those basics away.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

What you bring

  • 2+ years of hands-on IT or technical support experience, or an associate degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Solid working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft 365.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Experience with IT management tools (Jira, Intune, or PDQ), data analysis or scripting (SQL, Power BI, or Python), AI coding agents, or employee training is preferred.
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.
  • You’re as good with people as you are with the tech work. You build relationships, collaborate well, and make decisions that keep things moving forward

Competitive Benefits

Benefits that take care of you and your family:

  • Health coverage: Medical, Dental, and Vision options
  • Build your future: 401(k) with a company match, plus profit sharing, so you share in the success you help build
  • Time to recharge: Paid time off, Paid Volunteer Time Off and 7 paid holidays
  • Peace of mind: Company provided Life insurance and short-term disability
  • Support for the whole you: Wellness programs, Uniform allowance, Wellbeing Reimbursement account, an Employee Assistance Program and Health Savings Account

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once per CV, from $25. Every application goes out with its own CV, written for that posting.
