When you join Design Group as a Director, Control System Integration, you are joining a team that will challenge you and position you for growth. Design Group is widely known as an industry leader, recognized as a top system integrator, ranking #9 in the 2025 System Integrator Giants; as a Rockwell Platinum Integrator, the highest designation given to Rockwell partners; and as an Ignition Enterprise Premier Integrator. As a part of this team, you will learn from industry leading experts and may even have the chance to be an active participant in industry events like the Ignition Build-A-Thon which Design Group won in 2023!

As a Director, Control System Integration, you will play a critical leadership role within Design Group’s Control System Integration Practice. You will collaborate with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver innovative, top-tier solutions to our clients and help define the direction and standards for process controls in the food & beverage industry.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of controls and electrical engineers, providing clear direction for all aspects of project execution, engineering standards, and professional development within the office.
  • Coordinate project workloads, resource allocation, and staffing with other regional offices as needed to balance client needs and team development goals.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing development of CSI team members; foster a culture of knowledge-sharing, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Implement effective technical standards, procedures, and best practices for control system integration and project management, ensuring solutions meet organizational objectives, client needs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with other discipline leaders, project managers, and construction teams to ensure cohesive delivery of multidisciplinary automation solutions.
  • Drive strategic business development for the office, identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities and key client relationships in the surrounding region.
  • Assume responsibility for overall project delivery, client satisfaction, quality, and performance for the Controls System Integration practice within your office.
  • Act as a technical and business advisor for high-profile, complex, or high-risk controls projects, providing oversight, decision-making, and problem-solving expertise.
  • Represent Design Group at client meetings, industry events, networking forums, and community engagements, elevating the firm's reputation and influence in the region.

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant engineering experience including controls system integration, with at least 5 years in technical team leadership and/or people management roles.
  • Proven track record in business development, client relationship management, and successfully growing revenue within engineering consulting or related technical fields.
  • Deep understanding of control systems integration, electrical design, project management, and automation solutions for industrial clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to set strategic direction, implement effective engineering and business processes, and deliver results aligned with organizational goals.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, mentor, and build trust at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and sound judgment for decision-making in complex or ambiguous situations.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the region for client development, project support, industry events, and company meetings as required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (Master’s and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred).

Our culture and commitment to our people is what sets us apart. We foster an environment of mutual respect, integrity, and unconditional interest in the individual and collective success of our professionals. Our model and entrepreneurial mindset offer a rewarding, challenging, and highly flexible path.

As a Director of Control Systems Integration, you will build a meaningful and fulfilling career with the support of professional development resources and mentorships including our First Year Experience program, Individual Development Plans, and Career Path resources and tools. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
