BBYO Summer Madrichim, General Programming - Lake Como and Poyntelle, Pennsylvania | BBYO Summer | $1,505–$2,200

Reports to: Madrichim Supervisor

At BBYO, we’re motivated by our mission, inspiring us to reimagine work to make it fun, flexible, and fulfilling. We are looking for a passionate summer Madrichim to join our team and make a difference. As a BBYO Madrich/a you’ll play a pivotal role in the success of BBYO by working closely with teens over the summer, to help them grow as leaders, explore their Jewish identities, and have an unforgettable experience at ILTC, International Kallah, or CLTC.

ABOUT BBYO

BBYO is the leading pluralistic Jewish teen movement and has been providing exceptional leadership programs and identity enrichment experiences for more than 100 years. We offer year-round activities in hundreds of local communities and inspiring worldwide travel experiences that enable teens to explore leadership, service, civic engagement, Israel education, and Jewish values. Learn more about BBYO’s summer and travel programs at bbyo.org/teens/experiences/summer.

WHY CHOOSE A BBYO SUMMER?

Office internships aren’t the only way to advance your career goals. Serving on the Madrichim team at camp gives you a platform to build a wide range of skills you can use in countless careers, including:

  • Teamwork in a fast-paced, multigenerational, international work environment
  • Time management, event planning, and a variety of wellness and youth care skills
  • Leadership development training and mentorship (for you and those you train)
  • Program development, curriculum planning, and group facilitation
  • Budgeting, public speaking, giving and receiving feedback, and conflict resolution
  • Opportunities to immerse yourself in a variety of timely and meaningful content topics
  • Responsibilities that encourage creativity, entrepreneurship, and taking risks
  • Prioritizing self-care, extensive time outdoors, recreation, and having fun every day

ABOUT THE PROGRAMS

Perlman Summer is a seven-week program that includes ILTC and International Kallah. ILTC is designed to hone leadership skills for teens serving (or aspiring to serve) as regional BBYO position-holders in their home communities. ILTC participants often become the top leaders of the BBYO teen Movement, gaining skills in recruitment, program planning, and civic engagement. Kallah is a Jewish learning and spirituality institute that inspires teens to explore their Jewish identities and interests in a diverse, pluralistic setting that encourages questioning and experimentation. Kallah participants gain important Judaic skills and come away feeling a deeper connection to Jewish study, Israel, and community. Both programs are expected to reach 200 teens.

Location: Lake Como, Pennsylvania

Work commitment: ILTC and International Kallah, June 15–August 5, 2027 – $2,236

CLTC is a 13-day program designed to develop and strengthen the leadership skills of BBYO chapter leaders. At CLTC, teens from across North America form mock chapters and learn specific skills that help them lead their chapters at home. The CLTC curriculum focuses on leadership development, program planning, and hands-on experience. CLTC is expected to reach 600 teens across four sessions throughout the summer.

Location: Poyntelle, Pennsylvania

Work commitment: Choose one of the following:

CLTC 1 & 2, June 2–July 6, 2027 – $1,505

CLTC 3 & 4, July 9–August 12, 2027 – $1,505

SHAPING THE FUTURE FOR TEENS AND YOURSELF

As a BBYO Madrich/a, a typical day will include:

Managing teen life in cabins

  • Serve as a role model for participants as a young Jewish adult and an exemplary BBYO alum, translating past BBYO experiences into learning opportunities for participants and showing how the AZA and BBG Movement meaningfully expands beyond high school
  • Manage daily bunk clean-up and inspection
  • Lead camp clean-up (organize the office, reset all rooms, etc.)
  • Ensure all teens are accounted for and involved out of the dorm and in the regular daily schedule of the program
  • Actively involve, and sometimes create, lead, and evaluate, programs at CLTC

  • Adhere to and report up regarding the Code of Conduct to ensure teens and staff are following it
  • Create, implement, and evaluate intentional rituals and programs in dorms
  • Provide nighttime supervision in the bunks when teens have "lights out"

Managing teen life in program

  • Assist with and/or lead Shabbat electives
  • Support coordinators with Friendship Circle programs
  • Plan bunk bonding experiences

Creating and planning camp programs

In addition to living in the bunk with teens, every Madrich/a will have a role in a specific area at camp. For General Programming, you will be responsible for planning camp-style activities and assisting the leadership staff with programming.

Opening, closing, and transition days

  • Welcome teens off buses

  • Assist the airport team with welcomes and departures

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
