It takes the imagination and passion of all of us—from design and engineering to the manufacturing and marketing of our billions of MedTech products per year—to look at the impossible and find transformative solutions that turn dreams into possibilities.

Job Description

BD are currently recruiting for a Project Engineer to join us in Ennicorthy.

This position is a 12-month Fixed Term role central to the successful introduction and manufacturing of new products, supporting engineering activities from early development through full-scale production.

You will actively participate in equipment installation, calibration, and process troubleshooting. You will also help develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes continuously. By collaborating intimately with diverse functional groups, you will help ensure that products meet customer and regulatory requirements while remaining efficient and scalable.

As a key contributor to engineering projects, you will lead and manage technical execution from project inception to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met. The role requires strong collaboration with internal team members and outside collaborators, clear technical communication, and proactive problem‑solving to overcome engineering challenges. Through ongoing efforts to improve processes, technical leadership, and mentorship, you will directly influence project success and support the delivery of innovative technology solutions to the business.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Lead end-to-end engineering projects from concept through production, ensuring technical excellence, on-time delivery, and budget alignment.
  • Drive new product introduction (NPI) activities, supporting equipment installation, validation, calibration, and ramp‑up into manufacturing.
  • Develop, optimize, and continuously improve manufacturing processes and equipment to achieve high efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Coordinate closely with cross‑functional teams including R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and external partners to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical and process challenges, applying structured problem‑solving and data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including schedules, risk assessments, technical reports, and design reviews.
  • Monitor project performance using key metrics, proactively managing risks, changes, and resource constraints.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or related field).
  • Previous and / or current experience in a project engineering or similar role, preferably within a technology-driven or manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering sophisticated engineering projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other relevant engineering tools is highly desirable.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
