Job Description

Position Summary: The R&D Engineering Intern supports the design, development, testing, and validation of medical devices and related technologies. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, the intern gains hands-on experience in product development, design controls, testing, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration while contributing to meaningful projects.

Employment Type: Part-time, year-round internship requiring part-time on-site availability while working toward a degree in a related field of study.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with engineering assignments and project activities.
  • Apply engineering principles to solve technical problems.
  • Support design and development of new products, processes, test methods, and equipment.
  • Initiate and revise engineering documentation and support approval processes.
  • Participate on cross-functional project teams.
  • Provide technical support for components, materials, methods, systems, and equipment.
  • Assist in developing and executing test plans and protocols.
  • Conduct laboratory and engineering testing.
  • Analyze test data and prepare reports and presentations.
  • Support equipment and process validation activities.
  • Participate in design control activities and design input analysis.
  • Follow quality system requirements, company procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Present project updates and technical findings to team members and management.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Junior or Senior standing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering tools/software.
  • Demonstrated initiative, attention to detail, and ownership of assigned tasks.

The incumbent must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the duties and responsibilities.

This year-round R&D Engineering Co-op offers a meaningful opportunity for an engineering student to gain practical experience in medical device product development while contributing to projects that support innovation, quality, and patient care. The role is intended for a motivated, detail-oriented individual who is eager to learn, collaborate across functions, and develop technical skills in a regulated engineering environment.
