The posting

About the role

We're looking for a hands-on Design Director to lead the next chapter of product design at o9 Solutions.

This isn't a role for someone who wants to spend their days in meetings or manage design from a distance. We're looking for a design leader with strong product and design craft who can set the vision, raise the quality bar, and guide the team toward creating simpler, more intuitive experiences for complex enterprise products.

You'll lead an established team of 8–9 product designers while staying closely involved in product strategy, design direction, interaction design, visual design, and design quality.

Our platform helps global businesses solve complex planning and decision-making problems. Your challenge will be to make those experiences significantly simpler, more intuitive, and more user-centric - while helping define how traditional product workflows and emerging agentic experiences come together.

If you're passionate about design craft, thrive in complex product environments, and enjoy building both great products and high-performing design teams, we'd love to meet you.

What you'll own

You'll be responsible for shaping the product design vision and raising the overall quality of design across the platform.

Some of the things you'll work on include:

  • Define and communicate the long-term vision for product design across the platform.
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering to solve complex customer problems and translate business needs into intuitive product experiences.
  • Own the design function, set a high bar for design quality, and lead the redesign of key product experiences, making complex workflows simpler, clearer, and easier to use.
  • Establish a strong user-centric approach to designing complex enterprise workflows.
  • Help define how traditional product workflows and emerging agentic and conversational experiences come together in the product.
  • Stay closely connected to the work by shaping critical user journeys, reviewing design work, providing thoughtful feedback, and setting a high bar for design craft.
  • Build and evolve scalable design systems and interaction patterns that improve consistency and accelerate product development.
  • Coach and mentor designers through design critiques, feedback, and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Build a strong design culture centred around customer empathy, design craft, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to influence product strategy and shape the future direction of the platform.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who enjoys building products as much as building teams. You'll probably be a great fit if you:

  • Have 8 - 10 years of product design experience, with flexibility for exceptional candidates outside this range based on the quality of their experience.
  • Have built and shipped complex B2B or enterprise SaaS products used by business customers at scale.
  • Are a strong full-stack product designer with expertise across UX, interaction design, visual design, and design systems.
  • Have exceptionally high standards for design quality, visual hierarchy, interaction design, and attention to detail.
  • Have recent hands-on product design experience and can credibly engage with design work, critique output, and guide teams toward a higher quality bar.
  • Have experience leading and mentoring high-performing product design teams.
  • Can simplify complicated enterprise workflows into experiences that customers genuinely enjoy using.
  • Know how to balance customer needs, business goals, and technical constraints when making design decisions.
  • Have a strong understanding of emerging AI, agentic, and conversational interfaces, and are excited about rethinking how users interact with complex products.
  • Enjoy working closely with Product Managers and Engineers throughout the product development process.
  • Use research, customer feedback, and product data to inform design decisions.
  • Are ambitious, curious, and modern in your approach to product design, with a strong point of view on where digital product experiences are heading.
  • Experience designing planning, decision-making, or other complex enterprise workflows is a plus.

Why this role is exciting?

This is an opportunity to shape the future of product design at a company solving some of the most complex problems faced by global enterprises.

You'll have the opportunity to raise the design bar across an established product design team, influence product strategy, and simplify experiences that businesses rely on every day.

You'll also help shape how the next generation of enterprise software works - including how traditional workflows and emerging agentic and conversational experiences come together.

You'll work closely with experienced Product and Engineering teams, collaborate with senior leadership, and have the autonomy to define what great product design looks like across the organisation.

Most importantly, this is a role where your design thinking, craft, and vision will have a direct impact on the product and the team building it.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
