Note: This is a remote, part-time independent contractor opportunity requiring consistent early-morning availability, generally between 6:00–10:00 a.m. ET, Monday through Friday. Specific hours and assignments may vary depending on client needs.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

As a Media Monitoring Freelancer, you will…

  • Conduct daily morning monitoring across national, local, trade and other relevant media outlets to identify coverage and developments relevant to assigned clients
  • Compile, draft and distribute timely media monitoring reports, daily clips and coverage updates for client teams and other key audiences
  • Identify and flag breaking news, emerging stories, reputational considerations and positive or notable client coverage as appropriate
  • Distill news and media coverage into clear, concise and accurate written summaries
  • Support ad hoc monitoring and reporting needs around breaking news, media moments, events and other time-sensitive developments
  • Apply strong news and editorial judgment to assess the relevance, significance and urgency of coverage
  • Manage multiple monitoring priorities and deliverables while meeting tight early-morning deadlines
  • Incorporate feedback and revisions quickly and accurately prior to distribution
  • Collaborate with Orchestra account teams to understand client priorities and adapt monitoring accordingly

Essential skills:

  • 1–2 years of experience in public relations, communications, media monitoring, journalism or a related field
  • Previous experience conducting media monitoring, compiling clips or producing media coverage reports
  • Strong writing, editing and editorial judgment, with the ability to synthesize information into clear and concise summaries
  • Strong news sense and an ability to quickly identify relevant or significant developments within a high volume of coverage
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to work quickly, independently and consistently within tight deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond to time-sensitive or ad hoc requests
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive or client-facing information
  • Consistent availability during required early-morning hours
  • Experience with media monitoring platforms such as Cision or Muck Rack is a plus

WORKING AT ORCHESTRA

This is a remote, part-time independent contractor opportunity. Freelancers should expect to work approximately 20 hours per week, primarily during early-morning hours. Exact schedules, duration and weekly hours may vary depending on the specific client assignment and business needs.

Compensation: $18–$25 per hour, commensurate with experience and skills.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
