The posting

At BETA Technologies, we apply our intellectual curiosity, passion for aviation, and commitment to sustainability toward a shared mission of revolutionizing electric aviation. Regardless of the position one holds, each team member brings their talent and desire to positively impact the environment and lives of others in a refreshing, vibrant, and inclusive culture.

The Configuration and Release Engineer is responsible for coordinating, releasing, and implementing engineering changes to aircraft, motor, and subsystem configurations for experimental, production, and in-service products at BETA Technologies. This role drives Change Requests (CRs), Change Orders (COs), and Change Actions (CAs) from assessment through release and closure, ensuring each change has a fully defined, resourced, and scheduled implementation plan and is correctly incorporated into the applicable configuration baselines. This activity is crucial to the process of obtaining and maintaining FAA certification to produce, supply, and operate aircraft, and to continued operational safety.

As a member of the Configuration and Lifecycle Management (CaLM) team, the Configuration and Release Engineer works cross-functionally with Design Engineering, Certification, Systems Engineering, BETA Job Description

Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Flight Test to ensure proposed changes are well coordinated, documented, and compliant with internal procedures and regulatory standards. This role maintains accurate and auditable configuration records across PLM, ERP, and as-maintained databases, so that every aircraft and motor configuration used in test, production, and service remains controlled, reviewable, and certifiable. This is a configuration management discipline role, not a design engineering or document-administration position.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

  • Process and drive Change Requests, Change Orders, and Change Actions through assessment, review, approval, release, implementation, and closure in 3DEXPERIENCE.
  • Evaluate change packages for completeness; identify missing technical, manufacturing, quality, effectivity, or traceability inputs before release.
  • Coordinate cross-functional impact assessments for hardware and software changes, ensuring all affected engineering and functional disciplines provide input.
  • Develop and manage implementation plans that are fully defined, resourced, and scheduled to meet company and program milestones.
  • Identify retrofit activity required for flight test, in-production, and in-service aircraft and motors, and track it to completion.
  • Apply product (aircraft or motor) effectivity to end item units and maintain configuration baselines to ensure correct configurations for test, production, and operational use.
  • Prepare change packages for the Change Review Board, document decisions, and drive actions to closure.
  • Advise engineering, manufacturing, and certification stakeholders on the impact of design changes to safe flight, required maintenance actions, and return to service.
  • Ensure released change records, product structures, and associated documentation complete required reviews, approvals, revision control, and traceability.
  • Maintain accurate and auditable configuration records across PLM, ERP, and as-maintained configuration systems.
  • Author and maintain procedures and work instructions related to change management and change implementation, and provide training to change-process participants.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in configuration management, engineering change management, or a related technical discipline in aerospace or other regulated design and manufacturing industry.
  • BS in a relevant engineering or quality discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Deep knowledge of configuration management processes, with familiarity with EIA-649 and engineering change management principles.
  • Demonstrated experience processing engineering changes from request through implementation and closure, including change requests, change orders, implementation plans, effectivity, and configuration traceability.
  • Hands-on experience executing change and release activities within a PLM system such as 3DEXPERIENCE/ENOVIA, Teamcenter, Windchill, or equivalent, and working knowledge of ERP systems (Plex, SAP, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of configuration and change management principles for hardware and software in a certification or regulatory environment.
  • Strong skills in MS Excel for analyzing and comparing product structures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external customers.
  • High energy, self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented.

Above and Beyond Qualifications:

  • Experience with change management and product structure management in 3DEXPERIENCE.
  • Experience supporting FAA certification, conformity, or AS9100 production environments.
  • Experience supporting Change Control Boards or Change Review Boards.
  • Experience with deviations, nonconformances, or retrofit and modification programs.
  • Experience supporting changes across development, production, and in-service environments.
  • Experience authoring or revising controlled procedures and work instructions within a quality management system.
  • Previous project or program management experience.
  • Familiarity with 3D digital thread and/or model-based definition (MBD) environments.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Aircraft production environment, working closely with designers, program managers, mechanics, pilots, and other aircraft development personnel.
  • Significant onsite work at BETA Technologies locations in Montreal, QC, and Burlington, VT.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
