Senior DevOps Engineer at Beyond Sports

Location: Budapest, Hungary Duration: 12 months FTC Working Arrangement: Onsite

Join Our Team as a Senior DevOps Engineer at Beyond Sports!

Are you passionate about resilient cloud platforms, elegant automation, and leading the infrastructure behind next-generation digital experiences that capture global audiences?

At Beyond Sports, we don’t just visualise sports, we reinvent how fans experience them. Together with partners like NFL, NHL, FIFA and Disney, we push the boundaries of real-time sports data, 3D graphics and AI-driven storytelling. Our Platform Engineering team is the backbone of all of it. We run a multi-cloud estate across AWS and Azure, with Kubernetes, Terraform and GitOps at the heart of how we work.

If you’re an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer with deep Azure expertise, a strong grasp of networking and the Well-Architected Framework, and a desire to lead and mentor within a collaborative platform team, this is the perfect next step in your career.

What Your Day Will Look Like

As our primary Senior DevOps Engineer for Azure, you’ll play a pivotal role in keeping the platforms behind some of the world’s biggest sports experiences reliable, secure and performant.

Working alongside the wider Platform Engineering team and our development squads, you’ll take end-to-end ownership of our Azure estate, from AKS and Function Apps to Front Door, App Gateway and Azure DNS. When you’re not working in Azure, you’ll get stuck into our AWS estate (our main cloud), collaborating closely with the team across EKS, IAM, CloudFront, Route 53 and more.

One day you might be designing hub-and-spoke network architecture, managing Infrastructure as Code in Terraform, or standardising CI/CD pipelines across GitLab, Bitbucket and ArgoCD. The next, you could be investigating a production issue, rotating certificates and secrets, validating backup integrity, or mentoring a colleague on automation best practices.

You’ll serve as a key technical lead within the team, driving operational excellence, security and continuous improvement. Because we thrive on collaboration and shared ownership, your work will directly shape how reliably millions of sports fans can access our products worldwide.

What We Value

At Beyond Sports, we move fast, collaborate closely, and build things that haven’t existed before.

You’ll fit right in if you:

- Bring deep technical craft, building scalable, secure and well-architected cloud infrastructure

- Take full ownership of platform maintenance, from patching and backups to monitoring, health checks and remediation

- Automate routine tasks and workflows wherever you see the opportunity, using Bash, Python or similar

- Stay calm and methodical under pressure, investigating and resolving production and infrastructure issues and supporting incidents as part of an on-call rotation

- Champion best practices in automation, CI/CD and cloud infrastructure management, and mentor others to raise the bar across the team

- Keep documentation, runbooks and training materials accurate, clear and useful

- Drive strong, proactive collaboration with development teams to diagnose and resolve back-end issues

Your Background

You don’t need to tick every box, but we’re generally looking for:

- Proven experience managing distributed systems at scale

- Strong proficiency with Azure, Kubernetes and Terraform, with in-depth knowledge of the Well-Architected Framework

- Solid understanding of networking, DNS, and Landing Zone / Hub and Spoke architectures

- A strong grasp of CI/CD workflows and Infrastructure as Code principles

- Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana

- Competence with databases including RDS, PostgreSQL and MySQL

- Development experience with an object-oriented programming language (e.g. Java)

- Proficiency in AWS, or a genuine willingness to learn

- Strong communication skills and an analytical, quality-focused, proactive approach to problem-solving

Nice to Have (But Not Required)

- Hands-on AWS experience across EKS, IAM, CloudFront, Route 53 and S3, as well as CloudFormation

- Familiarity with Grafana’s LGTM stack (Loki, Mimir) and synthetic monitoring tools such as UpTrends

- Experience with Kafka, the Linkerd service mesh, or Karpenter for Kubernetes autoscaling

- Exposure to secrets and identity tooling such as Vault, Authentik and SSO

- Experience with VPC/VNet design, Transit Gateway, VPN and WAF configuration

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
