The posting

About Us Trucking moves the American economy. It is a $1 trillion market, and it still runs on fragmented operations, thin margins, and technology a generation behind. Billor, short for "Bill of Rights," is the only company transforming this market end to end, combining Freight and Technology for Truck Drivers, Freight Brokers, and Small Carriers into a single ecosystem. We operate a fleet of several hundred heavy-duty trucks and run integrated business lines across freight, fintech, and technology platforms.

About the role We are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Class 8 Semi-Truck & Trailer Inspector to perform comprehensive safety and mechanical inspections across our diverse fleet of heavy-duty equipment. The primary focus of this role is to verify structural, mechanical, and operational integrity for Class 8 power units and various trailer types (flatbed, dry van, and refrigerated units) to ensure full compliance with DOT and FMCSA safety standards.

Responsibilities

Vehicle & Equipment Inspections:

Perform thorough pre-trip, periodic, and preventive maintenance inspections on Class 8 tractors and associated trailers.

Trailer Specialization: Inspect multiple trailer types

Flatbeds: Verify deck integrity, tie-down equipment, winches, rub rails, and structural frames.

Dry Vans: Inspect floorboards, door seals, roof linings, sidewalls, and cargo securing components.

Reefers (Refrigerated Trailers): Inspect reefer unit operational status, temperature monitoring components, door seals, and insulation integrity.

Component Diagnostics: Check critical mechanical systems including air brakes, steering components, suspension, tires, rims, lighting systems, and coupling devices (fifth wheels and kingpins).

Compliance & Recordkeeping: Document inspection results accurately, generate detailed defect reports, and sign off on DOT/FMCSA inspection logs.

Fleet Coordination: Work alongside fleet operations and maintenance staff to prioritize repair needs and re-inspect vehicles after maintenance work is completed.

  • Current DOT certified Inspector / Annual Vehicle Inspector Certification
  • Degree or Technical Certificate in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Equipment Technology.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class A) — Not required, but strongly preferred (A+) for yard movement or test drives.
  • Minimum 2+ years of hands-on mechanical or inspection experience with Class 8 heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating diverse fleet inventory, including flatbeds, dry vans, and refrigerated units.
  • Strong working knowledge of FMCSA and DOT commercial vehicle safety standards.
  • Solid mechanical understanding of Class 8 power units, air brake systems, and heavy-duty suspensions.
  • Familiarity with reefer unit functionality and specialized trailer structural components.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot safety hazards and wear-and-tear defects quickly.
  • Basic digital literacy for entering inspection data into fleet management software or logging digital inspection reports.
  • Health Insurance
  • Paid vacation
  • Paid Holidays
  • Parental leave
  • Wedding leave
  • Monthly meal allowance

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
