About This Role

At Biogen, our mission is to pioneer neuroscience and transform the lives of patients. As a Senior Program Planner within R&D Portfolio Planning & Resource Management (PP&RM), you will play a critical role in enabling strategic portfolio planning across the drug discovery, development, and commercialization continuum.

This position serves as a key partner to program leaders, project managers, and cross-functional teams by developing and maintaining integrated program plans that support portfolio decisions, resource forecasting, financial planning, and executive governance. You will leverage Planisware and related planning tools to ensure accurate, real-time portfolio data that informs some of the organization's most important strategic decisions.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with program leaders, project managers, and functional representatives across Clinical Development, Regulatory, Technical Operations, Quality, and other R&D functions to build and maintain high-quality program plans.
  • Monitor and maintain milestone and activity dates, ensuring data accuracy and alignment across functional and integrated plans.
  • Develop and support scenario planning and strategic portfolio modeling as program strategies evolve.
  • Generate portfolio reports and analytics that support governance reviews, executive decision-making, financial planning exercises, and resource forecasting.
  • Collaborate with Resource Management, Portfolio Strategy & Analytics, Finance, HR, and IT teams to improve processes, reporting capabilities, and data quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including activity-based planning, automated resource forecasting, risk integration, dashboard development, and enhanced portfolio management capabilities.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in portfolio planning tools and processes, helping maximize the value of planning systems and new platform capabilities.

Who You Are

You are a highly analytical and collaborative planning professional who thrives in a complex, fast-paced R&D environment. You enjoy translating large amounts of cross-functional information into clear, actionable plans and are passionate about delivering accurate data that drives business decisions. You build strong partnerships across functions and are comfortable communicating with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree - Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in program management
  • Must have experience within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience supporting drug discovery, clinical development, or portfolio planning activities.
  • Demonstrated experience with Planisware or similar project and portfolio management platforms.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, integrated planning, and timeline management.
  • Knowledge of clinical development processes and key development milestones.
  • Experience with data quality management, reporting, and analytics.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Skills

  • 3+ years of Planisware experience, including timeline template design and maintenance.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or formal project management training.
  • Experience supporting portfolio governance, resource forecasting, or financial planning activities.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
