The Opportunity:

We are recruiting for a Inside Sales Account Manager in Japan to drive sustainable growth across consumables and service for our Drug Discovery & Development (DDD) and Advanced Therapeutics (ADT) businesses. Initially focused on DDD, you will build and develop a nationwide inside-sales model, managing opportunities from initial customer engagement and needs assessment through to quotation, negotiation and close.

Working primarily through telephone, email and video meetings, you will develop existing and new customer opportunities, drive repeat business and recurring revenue, and work closely with Sales, Application, Service, Marketing and Customer Service teams. Once established within DDD, the model will progressively expand into ADT, providing an exciting opportunity to shape and grow this new commercial approach in Japan.

What you will be doing:

  • Carry agreed individual sales targets for consumables and service revenue.
  • Initially manage nationwide DDD opportunities and progressively expand into ADT.
  • Create and develop opportunities from point-of-instrument-sales (POIS), existing installed customer base, marketing leads, service activities and customer inquiries.
  • Assess customer needs and coordinate evaluations or demo with Application, Service and field-sales teams.
  • Manage assigned opportunities from initial contact through quotation, negotiation, closing and order.
  • Drive repeat purchases, cross-selling, customer reactivation and recurring-revenue growth.
  • Maintain accurate customer, opportunity, quotation and activity records in SFDC.
  • Provide reliable pipeline and sales forecasts regarding consumables.
  • Work closely with DDD and ADT Sales, Application, Service, Marketing and Customer Service teams.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above.
  • Native-level Japanese and working-level English.
  • Experience in B2B technology sales, inside sales or application support.
  • Proven experience managing individual sales targets and closing customer opportunities.
  • Strong customer communication, negotiation and follow-up skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of SFDC or a similar CRM.
  • Experience in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, chemistry, laboratory equipment or analytical instruments preferred.
  • Comfortable engaging customers remotely and working cross-functionally.
