The posting

BitGo (NYSE: BTGO) is the digital asset infrastructure company delivering custody, wallets, staking, trading, financing, stablecoins, and settlement services from regulated cold storage. Since 2013, BitGo has focused on accelerating the transition of the financial system to a digital asset economy. BitGo maintains a global presence and multiple regulated entities, including BitGo Bank & Trust, National Association, the first federally chartered digital asset trust bank owned by a publicly traded company. Today, BitGo serves thousands of institutions, including many of the industry's top brands, financial institutions, exchanges, and platforms, and millions of investors worldwide. For more information, visit www.bitgo.com.

This role requires being full-time onsite at our Palo Alto office to support collaborative team dynamics and innovative problem-solving.

If you have spent your career in SOX, internal controls, audit, controllership, or financial close, and you want to build the systems that fix what you find instead of only testing them, this role is for you.

Why this role exists

Every product BitGo ships eventually becomes a number: a balance, a fee, a statement, a journal entry, a regulatory filing. As a public company and a federally chartered trust bank, we have to prove those numbers are right every period, across many products, legal entities, and jurisdictions.

You will own the product strategy for the financial and accounting platform that makes those numbers right by construction, as we add products, entities, and asset types. You will turn accounting requirements into scalable, auditable, self-service platform capabilities that product, engineering, finance, and compliance can build on.

Digital assets make this harder, and more interesting, than it is at a traditional bank. On chain activity, custody structures, staking, tokenized assets, and settlement each move through our systems differently, and each has to land correctly on the books. The industry is still writing the playbook for much of this. You will help write it.

Level

We are hiring at Senior or Principal level, depending on experience. The core scope is the same at both. At Principal, you have already set platform strategy, led accounting systems, or established control standards that multiple teams adopted, and you will own the crossproduct standards and the working relationship with finance and audit leadership with more independence from day one.

Two paths to this role

There is more than one way to be great at this job. You may come from product management and built financial compliance platforms. You may come from audit, controllership, or accounting systems and have spent years finding where numbers break, and then built the thing that fixed it. We are just as interested in the second group. If you are an auditor or accountant with a builder mindset, you will be evaluated on the same scope and the same bar as a product manager. What matters is that you have shipped: tools, automation, control frameworks, or systems that other teams adopted and kept using.

What you will own

  • The financial data and accounting platform roadmap: Define and deliver the shared capabilities that make financial data trustworthy by construction: ledger and sub-ledger integrity, balance and activity reconciliation, fee and revenue calculation, client reporting, and the feeds into the general ledger and the financial close.
  • Controls built into the product: Partner with finance, internal audit, and external auditors to turn SOX and internal control requirements into product capabilities instead of manual procedures. When a control needs a build, you own the requirements, the plan, and the timeline, delivered in step with the audit calendar.
  • Platform standards across products and entities: Make sure new products, new asset types, new legal entities, and acquisitions plug into the platform instead of creating bespoke accounting workarounds. You set the standards, interfaces, and data contracts that product teams build against.
  • Regulatory and audit readiness: Work with compliance, legal, and risk so the platform supports regulatory reporting, books-and-records requirements, and examiner and auditor requests. You run dated plans against external deadlines and flag early when a timeline is at risk.
  • Close, reporting, and operational efficiency: Reduce the manual effort, elapsed time, and risk in month-end and quarter-end close. Establish the metrics that show whether the platform is working: reconciliation breaks, close duration, audit adjustments, manual journal volume, and time to onboard a new product.

What success looks like in the first two quarters

  • A documented map of how each major product's financial activity reaches the general ledger, with manual steps and gaps identified and prioritized.
  • A dated platform roadmap agreed with finance, engineering, and compliance, with external deadlines (audit, regulatory, and reporting) built into the plan.
  • One high-impact capability shipped end to end, such as automated reconciliation for a key product, that measurably reduces manual work or control risk.

Who you will partner with

  • Finance and Accounting leadership own accounting policy and judgment. You translate their requirements into platform capabilities and make the product the system of record.
  • Engineering leadership owns architecture, estimates, and delivery. You partner on sequencing, platform design, and tradeoffs without positional authority. Product Managers across Custody, Trading, Staking, and Financing need the platform to support their products without becoming a bottleneck.
  • Compliance, Legal, and Risk own regulatory judgment. You build the delivery process behind it.
  • Internal and external audit rely on you to plan control-related work clearly and deliver it on schedule.
  • Commercial and client teams need accurate statements, reporting, and billing that clients can trust.

What we're looking for

  • 6+ years of experience (typically 9+ for Principal) building or scaling systems, platforms, tooling, or control frameworks that multiple internal or external teams relied on, including 3+ years as the owner. You might have done this as a product manager, or from audit, controllership, or accounting systems. At Principal, you have set strategy or standards that other teams adopted.
  • An accounting or finance foundation: a CPA or equivalent, an accounting degree, or hands-on experience in financial reporting, audit, controllership, or accounting systems. You can read a trial balance, follow a journal entry through a ledger, and discuss revenue recognition or reconciliation with a controller without a translator.
  • Experience building scalable platforms such as ledgers, billing, payments, reporting, data infrastructure, reconciliation tooling, or controls automation. You think in data models, interfaces, and reuse, and you know when a one-off fix will cost us later. If you come from audit or accounting, this may look like automating reconciliations, building controls into a system, or designing data models and tooling with engineers, rather than a formal product title.
  • Experience in a regulated financial environment. You have worked with auditors, examiners, SOX controls, or control programs, and you understand how public company obligations change how products are built and shipped.
  • Technical credibility with Engineers. You can follow an architecture discussion, pressure-test an estimate, and write precise requirements for data-heavy systems. Familiarity with SQL and financial data pipelines is a plus.
  • Crypto or digital-asset experience is a requirement. If you do not have professional experience, passion projects with breadth and depth across digital assets could be a good fit.
  • A writing-first approach: your default artifacts are clear specs, data flow maps, and decision documents.

What will make you fail here

  • Building bespoke solutions for each product or blockchain instead of platform capabilities that scale.
  • Needing positional authority to get things done. Engineering, finance, and compliance sit on separate reporting lines, and you will coordinate across all three every day. You need to find ways to unblock yourself.
  • Optimizing for process over outcomes. We have little patience for ceremony. Here, a control built into the product is an outcome; a new manual review step usually isn't.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
