Hospice & Palliative Care Physician Job | BJC HealthCare

Missouri Baptist Medical Center, a nationally recognized community hospital and member of BJC HealthCare, is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Hospice & Palliative Care Physician to join an established inpatient palliative care program in St. Louis, Missouri.

This opportunity is ideal for a physician who is passionate about palliative medicine, hospice care, resident education, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Candidates will have the opportunity to actively teach Internal Medicine residents, lead complex goals-of-care discussions, and help advance the future of Hospice & Palliative Care services within one of the Midwest's premier healthcare systems.

This position is available due to a planned physician retirement, providing the rare opportunity to step into a well-established practice with strong referral patterns, exceptional continuity, and immediate impact.

Overview

BJC Home Care offers patients and their families a complete range of home care services, including skilled nursing services, adult and pediatric hospice and supportive care, rehabilitation therapy, home infusion therapy, infusion treatment rooms, home medical equipment and high-tech respiratory care. Specialty home care programs also are available, including adult and pediatric asthma, cardiac, diabetes, orthopedic and wound care programs.

Role Purpose

Ensures optimal care and promotes safety of patients admitted to assigned service in cooperation with the private attending staff and nursing staff. Communicates with staff, patients, and families.

Responsibilities

Manages the medical care of assigned patients.Collaborates with patients, families, and members of the health care team to ensure excellent clinical outcomes.Performs and documents histories and physicals in the patient's medical record as required by hospital by-laws.Supervises and instructs medical students and residents assigned to service. Assists in the learning needs of residents and students as assessed.
