The Role
Lead PCBA layout from board concepts and lab demonstrations through to product-intent designs, with a focus on high-current, high-voltage and high-speed boards.
Key Responsibilities
• Own stack-up strategy, component placement, routing and optimisation for high-current and high-speed designs.
• Develop PCB design processes for high-voltage and power designs that meet compliance and safety requirements.
• Drive best practice in signal and power integrity, EMI/EMC, thermals, design for manufacture (DFM) and design for test (DFT).
• Work with electrical engineers to optimise performance and integration, and with mechanical and thermal team son liquid cooling, heatsinks, busbars and connectors.
• Run design reviews and providetechnical leadership across multiple projects.
• Work with PCB fabricators and assembly partners to deliver cost-effective prototypes.
• Improve company-wide layout methodologies, tools and practices, and research new PCBA technologies.
Requirements
• Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or related).
• 6+ years of PCB layout experience, including leading complex multilayer boards and owning review processes.
• Expert knowledge of Altium Designer, OrCAD, PADS or Cadence Allegro.
• Strong grasp of high-current routing, creepage and clearance, high-voltage design, differential pairs, controlled impedance, high-speed interfaces, EMC and thermal optimisation.
• Experience with power electronics (AC/DC, DC/DC) and controllers (FPGA, DSP, MCU).
• Desirable: power modules, GaN and SiC, liquid-cooled electronics and HDI.
