The posting
Join BLP and help make the world’s business processes autonomous!
Our agentic platform helps finance and operations teams worldwide remove manual work from their core business processes, so work runs end-to-end with greater control and significant productivity gains.
Today, over 550 enterprise customers use BLP across 1,300+ deployed projects. In the processes we automate, customers achieve productivity improvements of 5 to 10 times.
To date, BLP remains majority employee-owned, with Goldman Sachs holding a minority stake as a growth investor. Our success is driven by deep expertise in technology and business processes, a superior product with strong product-market fit, reflected in an expanding customer base that includes Fortune 500 companies.
BLP is one of Switzerland's fastest-growing SaaS scale-ups; we are now entering our next phase of growth. From our headquarters on Zürich's Bahnhofstrasse, we're expanding globally, with a growing presence across Europe and North America.
Join us and help make autonomous operations the new standard.
THE TEAM
At blp, dedicated engineering teams own individual products such as invoices, customer orders, and order confirmations. The Platform Team owns what all of them are built on: shared services and APIs, the data access layer, and the component and design system that shape how the product looks and behaves.
The team's focus has been the frontend platform, and we are now deliberately extending that ownership deeper into the stack. You would be central to that shift, with real influence over how the platform layer gets defined rather than inheriting someone else's blueprint.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- What you'll do and for whom. You build and run the core backend service our product teams rely on, from its APIs and persistence layer to email, user provisioning, and cross-tenant capabilities for large enterprises. Through those teams, your work reaches the 20'000+ people who use our Purchase-to-Pay and Order-to-Cash agents every day.
- Where you'll work. You join the Platform Team, about 10 engineers. At BLP, platform means the core of our product, not internal infrastructure: the shared services, data access layer, and design system that every product runs on. You work closely with the senior backend engineer who owns these areas today, in a large production Go codebase with well-established patterns.
- What success looks like. In your first year, you own one core area end-to-end, for example, user provisioning, outbound email, cross-tenant capabilities, analytics, or workflow configuration, from the Go service to the customer using it.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build the service that product teams build on. Design, build, and evolve the core APIs behind document processing, approval workflows, administration, and analytics, with clear contracts so product teams can ship on top of them without workarounds.
- Own the persistence layer. Each tenant has its own isolated MySQL database. You evolve the abstraction product teams build on (a tenant-scoped unit of work, typed repositories, and shared type-safe querying) so that isolation, transactions, and permissions are right by default.
- Scale BLP for large enterprises. Extend our cross-tenant capabilities so customers with many subsidiaries and business units can manage users, permissions, and documents across all of them from one place, correctly, securely, and fast.
- Own email, in and out. Own our email document ingestion and outbound email services, including the audit trail and its UI.
- Make setup self-service. Turn manual SSO, SCIM, and email setups into migration tools and admin UIs that customers and project managers can run on their own.
- Work with customers. Join onboarding calls with customer IT teams and project managers, get their setups running, and turn what you learn into better tooling.
- Own it end-to-end. From the Go service through the React UI to production, including tracing, metrics, and incident analysis after it ships.
Tech stack: Go, React/TypeScript, MySQL, Redis, Temporal, Kubernetes on GCP and AWS, GitHub CI/CD, and OpenTelemetry with Grafana, Prometheus, Tempo, and Parca for observability.
WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT YOU BECAUSE
- You have 4+ years of experience as a software engineer, with most of that time spent building and operating backend systems in production.
- You have 2+ years of professional Go experience, writing services that run in production, not side projects.
- You've designed a backend service or API that other teams depended on, and kept it reliable and evolvable as usage grew.
- You work well across teams. You align with product, integration, and infrastructure teams on contracts, priorities, and rollouts, and you can explain technical trade-offs to people who aren't engineers.
- You improve existing production systems step by step, and you know when a rewrite isn't worth it.
- You have strong fundamentals in type systems, composition, testing, and clean architecture, and you're comfortable working in a codebase built on functional patterns.
- You're fullstack where it counts: you build on the components and design system our frontend experts maintain to ship admin UIs quickly, even though the backend is where you do your deepest work.
- You think in products and take ownership. You translate business problems into precise specifications, weigh cost against benefit, work directly with customers when a setup needs it, and stay responsible for what you ship after it goes live.
STRONG PLUS
- Experience with distributed systems, Kubernetes, Temporal, or cloud infrastructure.
- Experience with user provisioning (SCIM) and SSO (OIDC).
- Experience running multi-tenant systems.
- Domain knowledge in ERP, finance, procurement, or supply chain processes, or German language skills.
What you'll get
- Ownership of visible outcomes. The areas you own decide how fast enterprise customers go live and how well BLP scales with them.
- Impact at scale. Every improvement you ship to the product core multiplies across all product teams and the 20'000+ people who use BLP daily.
- Senior scope from day one. You'll lead technical initiatives and mentor engineers on a team that is actively growing its backend ownership.
