Position Summary

The Geological Database & GIS Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining geological databases, GIS systems, and spatial data supporting Blue Moon Metals’ Special Projects’ Exploration and Development projects. The position ensures geological and exploration data is accurate, reliable, well-documented, and readily accessible to technical teams.

The role will work closely with geology, exploration, engineering, and corporate teams to support data compilation, GIS analysis, QA/QC, technical evaluations, resource development, due diligence, and project growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Geological Database & GIS Management

  • Lead geological database and GIS management activities across exploration and development projects.
  • Maintain geological, drilling, sampling, assay, survey, and spatial datasets to ensure data integrity, accuracy, security, and accessibility.
  • Support data acquisition, integration, visualization, and interpretation using geological database and GIS platforms.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve geological data workflows, standards, documentation, and governance processes.
  • Ensure appropriate data validation, version control, backups, and quality assurance practices are maintained.

QA/QC & Technical Standards

  • Implement and maintain geological data QA/QC procedures consistent with NI 43-101 requirements and industry best practices.
  • Review geological and exploration datasets to identify data gaps, inconsistencies, and potential quality issues.
  • Support technical reporting, resource evaluation, and other studies through the provision of reliable and properly documented geological data.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and metadata standards and contribute to broader data governance initiatives.

Exploration & Technical Support

  • Provide GIS analysis and geological data support to exploration and development teams.
  • Compile, integrate, and interpret geological and spatial information to support project evaluations and decision-making.
  • Support project reviews, technical studies, due diligence, and corporate growth initiatives.
  • Prepare maps, figures, presentations, data packages, and other technical materials for internal and external use.
  • Support the integration of historical and newly acquired exploration data into corporate geological databases and GIS systems.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide technical guidance and support related to geological databases, GIS systems, and digital geological workflows.
  • Work collaboratively with geologists, engineers, consultants, and other technical professionals across multiple projects and jurisdictions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data quality, system functionality, reporting efficiency, and geological data management practices.
  • Support the implementation of improved digital tools, workflows, and technologies.
  • Promote and consistently adhere to Blue Moon Metals’ safety, environmental, social, and operational standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Geology, GIS, Geomatics, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in geological data management, GIS, exploration, mining, or a related technical environment.
  • Experience working with geological databases and GIS applications in the mining or mineral exploration industry.
  • Knowledge of geological data structures, drilling and sampling data, assay databases, spatial datasets, and exploration workflows.
  • Experience with QA/QC processes and geological data validation.
  • Familiarity with NI 43-101 technical reporting requirements and Canadian mineral exploration standards.
  • Experience supporting resource evaluation, technical studies, or due diligence is an asset.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage large and complex datasets.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with GIS software, preferably ArcGIS Pro and/or QGIS.
  • Experience with geological database platforms such as acQuire, MX Deposit, or similar systems.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, relational databases, or data management tools is an asset.
  • Experience with data visualization, spatial analysis, and map production.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

Working Environment

The position will work within a growing junior mining company and will interact with technical teams supporting exploration, project development, and corporate initiatives across multiple jurisdictions. Travel to project sites within the United States may be required periodically.
