About Bluebird Kids Health
Bluebird Kids Health provides value-based pediatric primary care to underserved communities with a mission to help every child thrive. Our care model combines comprehensive primary and urgent care with care coordination, chronic disease management, and population health programs to improve outcomes, enhance the patient and family experience, and lower the total cost of care.
Position Summary
The Market Clinician Lead is the senior clinical leader for a defined market and one half of the market leadership dyad. Partnering with the Market Leader (Operations), you are responsible for clinical quality, patient safety, provider development, and consistent execution of Bluebird's pediatric care model. Together, the dyad is accountable for market performance across growth, quality, patient experience, employee engagement, and operational excellence.
This is a practicing physician role with protected administrative time. You will maintain a patient panel while providing clinical leadership across the market.
This is a highly visible, boots-on-the-ground leadership role. Success comes from being present in our practices—observing care delivery, coaching providers in real time, mentoring teams, removing barriers to excellent care, and identifying opportunities for improvement through direct engagement with patients, providers, and staff. Administrative leadership is expected to occur primarily within the practices you support, not from a remote office.
Key Responsibilities
- Frontline Clinical Leadership: Maintain a strong presence across market practices, building trusted relationships with providers and staff. Observe care delivery firsthand, provide real-time coaching, identify opportunities for improvement, and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning. Lead implementation, standardization, and continuous improvement of Bluebird's pediatric care model across all market locations, ensuring consistent, high-quality care.
- Quality & Safety: Drive clinical quality, patient safety, and population health outcomes, including well-child visits, immunizations, lead screening, chronic disease management, and clinical safety event review and resolution.
- Evidence-Based Care: Partner with the Chief Medical Officer and clinician leadership to develop, implement, and reinforce evidence-based clinical guidelines, standardized care pathways, and best practices.
- Provider Development: Recruit, onboard, mentor, coach, and retain providers. Lead peer review, support performance management, and create an environment of continuous professional development and clinical excellence.
- Value-Based Performance: Drive the clinical levers that improve total cost of care, including appropriate referral management, medication stewardship, documentation and coding quality, chronic disease management, and reduction of avoidable emergency department utilization.
- Operational Partnership: Partner with the Market Leader to align clinical excellence with operational performance. Participate in market leadership meetings, maintain a visible presence across practice locations, and support operational initiatives that improve patient access, efficiency, and the care experience.
- Community Relationships: Develop and strengthen relationships with pediatric specialists, hospitals, and community partners to improve care coordination and ensure seamless transitions of care for patients and families.
- Organizational Agility and Growth: Embrace evolving responsibilities and contribute to emerging priorities as the organization grows, continuously improves, and adapts to meet the needs of the communities we serve.
