Biomanufacturing and Chemical Separations Engineer, Lead

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly experienced, strategic, and hands-on Biomanufacturing and Chemical Separations Engineer to manage and operate a brand new, state-of-the-art pilot-scale facility. The facility is fully built, equipped, and ready to go, we now need a biomanufacturing and chemical separations engineer to bring the process online and oversee a high-performing team to design, plan, and execute large volume downstream engineering runs.

In this pivotal role, you will integrate into a client research and pilot-scale facility to develop and optimize downstream processes for recovery and purification of microbially-produced molecules and metabolites. You will analyze current methods for product isolation, provide assessments on their feasibility to be scaled-up, and execute them on a pilot-scale. Beyond technical execution, you will serve as a primary bridge between our technical teams, key external stakeholders, and commercial transition partners to ensure that our facility meets rigorous performance metrics and that our processes are designed for seamless and efficient technology transfer to commercial scale. On our team, you’ll bring process improvement frameworks to provide your client with consistent quantitative or qualitative results. Your communication skills, a desire to gain experience in bioindustrial manufacturing and program management, a culture of innovation, and a resilient attitude will translate to success for you and your client.

Work with us as we help the bioindustrial manufacturing community evolve to meet tomorrow's mission.

Join us. The world can’t wait.

You Have:

  • Experience operating within hazardous locations, organizing, storing, retrieving, compiling, and analyzing data to respond to detailed information requests, and developing and implementing analytical chemistry methods, including HPLC, GC/MS, or NMR
  • Experience with pilot-scale or larger chemical processing techniques such as distillation, liquid-liquid extraction, centrifugation, ultrafiltration, chromatography, and downstream unit operations
  • Experience reviewing and evaluating bench-scale processes for scale-up feasibility, including operational safety, efficiency of unit operations, and economic viability in the areas of industrial fermentation, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or biomanufacturing operations
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams, to collaborate and generate technical reports
  • Knowledge of industry safety standards and regulations such as NFPA, ASTM, and ANSI
  • Ability to build trust and value-based relationships with team members and stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to lead a team to design, plan, and execute pilot-scale experiments and chemical separations processes
  • Ability to be creative and innovative with an improvement and process-based mindset
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemistry and 8+ years of experience in biomanufacturing or process development for downstream processing and chemical separations, or Doctorate degree and 6+ years of experience in biomanufacturing or process development for downstream processing and chemical separations

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with bioindustrial manufacturing, biopharmaceutical manufacturing, or biotech companies
  • Experience with Department of Defense or Army procedures, proposal writing, or reporting requirements
  • Experience using AI tools for data analysis, automation, or documentation to improve workflow and process reproducibility
  • Ability to translate and document business needs, processes, and procedures into detailed user stories, process charts, workflows, and standard operating procedures
  • Secret clearance

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
