Job Description

Overview

The audio engineering team is seeking a senior software engineer to lead the development of the tools, frameworks, and infrastructure that enable our acoustics, DSP, and embedded engineering teams to create next-generation audio products.

This role combines software architecture, audio technology, embedded systems, and engineering productivity. You will partner with technical experts across acoustics, signal processing, controls, and embedded systems to build scalable solutions that accelerate research, prototyping, algorithm development, and product realization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop software platforms for audio measurement, signal analysis, algorithm development, rapid prototyping, and system characterization.
  • Lead the design of frameworks that connect desktop engineering environments with DSPs, embedded processors, audio SoCs, measurement systems, and prototype hardware.
  • Drive the evolution of engineering tools, APIs, automation workflows, and visualization environments used across multiple product and technology teams.
  • Enable efficient interaction with embedded systems through hardware-control, communication, and digital-audio interfaces.
  • Partner closely with engineers to understand workflow challenges, develop solutions, and improve development velocity and experimentation efficiency.
  • Provide technical leadership in software architecture, development practices, testing, deployment, and long-term maintainability.
  • Debug and optimize end-to-end audio systems spanning software, firmware, hardware, and measurement environments.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to the growth of a strong engineering-tools ecosystem across Bose.

Required Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Acoustics, DSP, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience developing engineering software, technical computing applications, embedded systems, or audio/DSP solutions.
  • Demonstrated programming skills in Python with experience in C/C++ development. Application knowledge of Matlab and LLM is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of digital signal processing, real-time audio systems, and engineering measurement methodologies.
  • Experience designing scalable, maintainable software architectures used by multiple teams or products. Version control (Git) and collaboration is implied.
  • Experience interfacing software with embedded systems, laboratory instrumentation, or data-acquisition platforms.
  • Deep knowledge of modern software-development practices including source control, automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD, packaging, and release management.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Active Noise Reduction (ANR), acoustics, audio DSP, control systems, or adaptive signal processing.
  • Experience with embedded DSPs, microcontrollers, real-time operating systems, and audio SoCs.
  • Familiarity with audio and hardware communication interfaces such as USB, TCP/IP, I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, I2S, TDM, PDM, and A2B.
  • Experience with data-acquisition systems such as Audio Precision, National Instruments, or similar audio-measurement hardware.
  • Experience developing enterprise-scale engineering toolchains, frameworks, SDKs, or technical computing environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of Linux and cross-platform software development.
  • Passion for audio technology and creating tools that significantly improve engineering productivity.

Why This Role Matters

The platforms and tools you develop will be used by engineers across Bose to explore new concepts, validate algorithms, characterize complex acoustic systems, and transition innovations from research into products. Your work will directly influence the speed, quality, and effectiveness of audio technology development across the company.

This is an opportunity to shape the engineering infrastructure behind the next generation of Bose products while collaborating with world-class experts in acoustics, DSP, embedded systems, and software engineering.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
