Job Description

Job Summary

The Receiver is a key member of Boyd’s Shipping and Receiving team at the Elkhart, Indiana facility. The Receiving position is responsible for the accurate entry of materials and goods received into inventory. The ideal person will be organized, detailed, and independent. They thrive when it comes to documentation of transactions and product validation. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for all inquiries pertaining to orders received.

This is a full-time position that includes a competitive benefits package.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Perform reconciliation of Inbounds.
  • Confirm and record quantity of goods received.
  • Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of shipment.
  • Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials.
  • Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials, if needed.
  • Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications.
  • Unload and organize new product receipts with forklift
  • Compute amounts, such as space available, and shipping, storage, and demurrage charges, using a calculator or price list.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Solid math Skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced team environment.
  • History of safety in the workplace and solid attendance record.
  • Experience using multi-directional, side loader, or swing mast forklifts to move large, heavy, and odd-sized materials

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • ERP experience preferred
  • Proficient with MS Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and use of a PC.
  • Good analytical and decision-making skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize work based on business needs.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, to prioritize and work in a multi-tasked environment
  • Ability to work under time constraints with changing priorities under minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for an entire 8-hour shift, which may include: bending, twisting, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
