Role available in Denver, Colorado or Houston, Texas

bpx energy is a top 20 producer of oil and gas in the US onshore and a subsidiary of BP p.l.c. With operations in Texas and Louisiana, our US onshore business has become both a best-in-class oil and gas producer and a leader in reducing methane emissions. As part of bp, we champion a high-energy, high-intensity environment built on accountability, collegiality, and empowerment.

Role Synopsis:

The Owner Relations Analyst serves as a primary point of contact for BPX Energy mineral, royalty, and working interest owners, supporting a high-volume environment of inbound phone calls, emails, owner cases, and account-related inquiries. This role requires strong ownership, professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to translate complex owner concerns into clear, actionable next steps. Daily responsibilities include researching division order, revenue, billing, suspense, payment, tax documentation, account update, and ownership change inquiries; documenting case activity with accuracy; protecting sensitive owner information; and partnering with cross-functional teams such as Division Order, Land, Revenue Accounting, Legal, and Technology to drive timely and accurate resolution. The role relies on enterprise systems, including SAP, EnergyLink, Microsoft Dynamics, and related tools, to research account history, manage owner interactions, and support a consistent, professional owner experience.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage and resolve owner inquiries through phone, email, and case management systems, ensuring timely, accurate, and professional service from initial contact through resolution or escalation.
  • Deliver a positive owner experience by identifying root causes, presenting clearly, and resolving concerns with professionalism.
  • Research and respond to a wide range of owner matters, including inquiries related to ownership changes, account updates, leases, revenue, payments, suspense, probate, trusts, deeds, banking updates, and tax documentation.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of oil and gas processes, including land, division order, revenue accounting, owner setups, payment cycles, and account maintenance.
  • Analyze royalty payments and account activity in SAP and related systems to explain payment details and resolve owner questions.
  • Collaborate with Division Order, Land, Revenue Accounting, Legal, Technology, and other teams to investigate issues and coordinate owner resolution.
  • Identify and appropriately handle sensitive or high-risk matters.
  • Apply payment, suspense, and account controls to ensure proper validation and compliance before updates or disbursements are processed.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying trends, process gaps, and opportunities to enhance service, automation, reporting, and the owner experience.
  • Manage workload effectively while maintaining response quality, confidentiality, service standards, and timely follow-up on owner requests.

Essential Education:

4-year accredited college degree

Essential experience and job requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of customer service, owner relations, land administration, revenue accounting, call center, or customer relationship experience preferred.
  • Experience managing high-volume phone, email, and case-based workflows while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, confidentiality, and timely follow-through.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex payment, account, tax, ownership, or process-related information in a clear and professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to use active listening, problem-solving, deductive reasoning, and sound judgment to identify root cause issues and determine the appropriate path to resolution.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities, urgent owner needs, aging cases, escalations, and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Comfortable answering live phone calls, managing professional email communication, documenting case activity, and following established processes and controls.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and follow-up skills with the ability to manage workload independently while collaborating effectively with team members and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency or willingness to learn enterprise systems and tools such as SAP, EnergyLink, Microsoft Dynamics, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Power BI, and other technology used to support owner inquiry management and reporting.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
