Position Summary:

As an Electrical Engineer II on the Hardware Engineering team, you will play a hands-on role in bringing our next-generation autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) to life. You will be responsible for reviewing, testing, debugging, and refining board- and system-level electrical circuitry across the full product development lifecycle. Working closely with cross-functional teams and international Joint Design/Original Design Manufacturers (JDM/ODM), you will validate complex hardware architectures—including CPUs, MCUs, sensors, motor drivers, and power distribution systems—ensuring our robotic platforms meet high standards for reliability, safety, and performance in dynamic real-world environments.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Test, debug and validate circuit designs incorporating specialized hardware devices such as CPUs, MCUs, cameras, analog and digital sensors, motor drivers etc.
  • Perform board and system-level troubleshooting to identify functional issues and assist with implementing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for approved fixes
  • Collaborate and support outsourced development partners on electrical hardware design, build and development activities
  • Participate in electrical hardware development stages for complex products and platforms, contributing to design, validation, tooling, manufacturing support, and testing
  • Execute and document test plans, capturing results, issues and verification metrics for technical reviews
  • Develop and maintain electrical design documentation (including specifications, BOMs, schematics, wiring diagrams and analyses) to support design reviews, certifications, and production
  • Support cross-organizational projects, programs, and activities by providing reliable hardware execution and testing support
  • Execute hardware testing, including functional system-level checks and assist with compliance testing runs

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 2-5 years of hands-on experience debugging hardware devices
  • Prior experience working with robotics is highly desirable

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics:

  • Experience with using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, soldering equipment, etc.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with modeling and testing methodologies used to validate circuit designs, hardware components, and thermal/emissions management
  • Experience using CAD tools and software packages including OrCAD, Allegro, Presto, Altium
  • Understanding of analog signal conditioning and digital sensor processing; including IR, sonar, and MEMS sensors
  • Familiar with serial communication buses including UART, SPI, I2C, CAN bus, USB, Ethernet
  • Familiar with power supply, power inverters, power conditioning, and power distribution in a noisy environment
  • Experience with sourcing electronic components and working with domestic and international PCB manufacturing and assembly facilities
  • Familiar with wireless technology. (e.g. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G, etc.)

  • Affinity for hands-on lab work and troubleshooting complex electronic circuits
  • Experience with test scripting such as Python, C, etc.
  • Familiar in the PCB design and layout of high-speed digital interfaces
  • Familiar with latest AI tools and MCP integrations with Electrical Engineering focus

Salary Range:

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in San Diego, California is $117,367 to $146,709. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Brain Corp is a multi-state employer and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
