The posting
We are a Singapore-based single-family office seeking an Investment Research Analyst to contribute to investment research, security analysis and portfolio decision support. The analyst will develop evidence-based investment views for the principal’s review, rather than undertake predominantly administrative or accounting work. Applicants with relevant qualifications or experience, including eligible fresh graduates, are welcome.
Core Investment Responsibilities
• Investment research and recommendations. Research listed equities, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), fixed-income securities and other agreed investments. Analyse issuer fundamentals, financial statements, valuation, market drivers, catalysts and downside risks. Prepare reasoned investment views and, where appropriate, proposed buy, hold, reduce, sell or watchlist actions for the principal’s consideration.
• Portfolio and risk analysis. Assess the existing portfolio’s holdings, exposures, performance drivers, concentration, liquidity and material risks. Evaluate investment implications of company announcements and macroeconomic developments, and support reviews of asset allocation and potential portfolio adjustments.
• Investment decision support. Prepare concise investment memoranda, comparable-company analysis, valuation models and scenario assessments for proposed investments or portfolio changes. Present findings to the principal, explain assumptions and alternative outcomes, and document research conclusions and agreed follow-up actions. Final investment decisions remain with the authorised decision-maker.
• Research data and records. Maintain investment-related datasets, source references, analytical models and research files. Check material figures against reliable primary sources where available, maintain a clear audit trail and promptly flag significant developments affecting investments.
Regular Deliverables
• Weekly market brief — one per week. Summarise material market moves, macroeconomic events and portfolio-relevant developments, with particular attention to US equities, ETFs and bonds. Explain the potential impact on holdings or prospective investments and identify actionable issues for further analysis.
• Monthly sector or investment-theme report — one per month. Examine an agreed sector, asset class or theme, including industry structure, investable securities, valuation considerations, opportunities, catalysts and risks. Conclude with supported investment observations or recommendations.
• Monthly portfolio and holdings report — one per month. Review material developments across all holdings and analyse agreed priority positions in greater depth, including investment thesis, performance, valuation, key risks and potential hold/increase/reduce/exit considerations when appropriate. A full re-underwriting of every holding is not required each month.
• Additional research as agreed. Undertake appropriately scoped follow-up analysis, watchlist screening or investment proposals when material opportunities or risks arise. The two monthly reports are separate deliverables and do not replace weekly briefs.
Candidate Requirements
• Relevant qualification or experience. Applicants should have at least one relevant basis: a degree or master’s qualification in Accountancy, Finance, Economics, Business Administration/Management or Financial Engineering (or a related specialisation); a relevant diploma from a Singapore institution; a relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA or CMFAS); or demonstrable investment-related experience, including personal investment, investment research, portfolio management, trading or M&A analysis. Relevant fresh graduates may apply.
• Analytical capability. Working knowledge of equities, ETFs and bonds; ability to interpret financial information, assess valuation and investment risks, and prepare structured analysis using Excel or similar tools. Independent management of an investment portfolio is not required.
• Responsible use of technology. Competence with spreadsheets and familiarity with AI-assisted research and data tools. All critical facts, prices and figures must be independently verified; sources must be identified and confidential information must not be entered into unauthorised systems.
• Professional conduct and location. Sound judgement, integrity, attention to detail, reliable follow-through and strict confidentiality.
