The posting

Horticulturist — TrustBasket

About the role

TrustBasket is one of India's leading plant and garden brands, selling planters and gardening essentials at scale across Amazon, Flipkart, and quick commerce (Blinkit, Zepto, Instamart). We're hiring a Horticulturist who can bridge plant and product knowledge with commercial range-building — someone who understands what makes a planter work for a plant and what makes it sell on a shelf.

What you'll do

  • Study nurseries, retail stores, and the online shelf to understand what sells, why it sells, and where the gaps are
  • Build and evolve planter/garden product assortments — material, size, colour, pack, and price architecture — grounded in both horticultural function and commercial viability
  • Advise on plant-care and growing-condition fit for new product lines (drainage, material suitability, sizing for root growth, etc.)
  • Translate field and digital-shelf research into assortment recommendations, backed by primary data you can defend
  • Work closely with NPD, design, and category teams to launch range extensions
  • Track competitor listings and reviews to identify what drives conversion vs. returns

What we're looking for

  • Formal training or hands-on experience in horticulture, botany, or a related field
  • Comfort with retail/commercial thinking — pricing, assortment logic, pack architecture — even without a formal merchandising background
  • Strong observational and primary-research skills; comfortable doing fieldwork (nursery/store visits, structured data collection)
  • Ability to back recommendations with data, not adjectives — "premium" or "trending" isn't a reason, evidence is
  • Prior e-commerce or D2C category experience is a plus, not a requirement

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with quick-commerce assortment norms (pack sizes, shipping weight/box constraints)
  • Exposure to reading online reviews/listings to extract product insight

What we're not looking for

  • Someone who can only talk plants in theory — we need hands-on, shelf-level thinking
  • Someone who can only talk commercials — plant fundamentals (drainage, material, growing conditions) genuinely matter to this role

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
