Job Title: Mechanic Job Department: Cog Railway Job Pay Rate: $21.00 / hour Job Summary: As a Cog Railway - Mechanic, you will be responsible for supporting the year-round maintenance and repair of railcars and shop machinery under the supervision of the Mechanical Foreman. During seasonal railway operations, the position may also operate diesel-powered railcars or locomotives as assigned. Learn more about Broadmoor here. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include following. Other duties may be assigned:
Work under a mechanical foreman to repair and maintain railcars, locomotives, industrial equipment, and shop machinery year-round. Overhaul diesel engines, air compressors, mechanical brakes, and hydraulic/air-operated systems. Operate (drive) diesel-powered railcars and locomotives safely and professionally over the railway during the seasonal operating schedule. Analyze and troubleshoot malfunctioning mechanical equipment both in the shop and on the road using basic tools, power tools, and computer diagnostic software. Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and cleaning of railcars, locomotives, company buildings, and repair shop areas. Maintain a courteous, professional demeanor and neat appearance when interacting with railway customers and wearing the standard uniform. Ensure complete compliance with The Broadmoor guidelines, operational procedures, safety policies, and institutional standards for excellence (Forbes Travel Guide and AAA Five-Diamond). Maintain a willingness to learn about The Broadmoor’s history, estate grounds, wilderness properties, culinary offerings, and retail outlets. Execute additional duties and responsibilities as required.

What we are looking for:
Minimum of a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent. Basic mechanical aptitude and previous successful mechanical repair experience. Knowledge of metric/English units of measure, fasteners, hand tools, and power tools. Basic computer and diagnostic software knowledge. A valid driver’s license is required, as this role may involve transporting equipment across the Resort. Please note that all employees operating Broadmoor vehicles must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to utilize Microsoft Office tools for documentation and email communication. Ability to work in high-altitude environments ranging between 6500 feet and 14,115 feet above sea level, dealing with decreased oxygen, extreme cold/heat, and rapid weather changes. A highly motivated team player who connects easily with colleagues and drives results through positive energy and seamless collaboration. Excellent communication skills, negotiation, conflict resolution and ability to work in fast-paced environment. Ability to lift, pull, or push up to 50 lbs. with assistance and proper safety practices, stand/sit for long periods, and occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as required by the calendar of events.
