The role also includes ongoing development of these programs, including the use of technology, AI, automation and analytics to improve efficiency and consistency. Strong judgment, an understanding of complex transactions and legal entity structures, and the ability to manage a high volume of concurrent matters are critical to the role.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Committee

  • Own the Investment Committee process from transaction submission through classification, routing, committee review, and follow-up
  • Review transactions and advise deal teams on the application of governance requirements and internal data and authority policies
  • Oversee the team responsible for initial transaction reviews, ensuring submissions are accurate, complete, and appropriately reviewed before committee consideration
  • Drive each committee review cycle, including agenda development, issue resolution, stakeholder coordination, and post-committee follow-up
  • Translate committee decisions and recurring issues into practical guidance, precedents, and training for investment and support teams globally

Data Governance

  • Own day-to-day operations of the data governance program, ensuring that transaction, investment, property, and other data is created and maintained in accordance with the firm’s data model
  • Resolve complex questions regarding the application of the data model to transactions, ownership structures, investment vehicles, and other business arrangements
  • Evaluate gaps or ambiguities in the data model and recommend changes to definitions, attributes, and governance standards as the business evolves
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex master-data matters, partnering with investment, legal, finance, technology, and operations teams to determine appropriate outcomes
  • Maintain a knowledge base of key decisions, interpretations, precedents, and complex scenarios

Technology, AI and Process Innovation

  • Identify opportunities to redesign and automate relevant legal, governance, and investment workflows using AI, automation, analytics, and other technology
  • Lead the evaluation and implementation of approved enhancements, working with business and technology teams to translate operational problems into scalable solutions
  • Analyze recurring governance and workflow issues and recommend changes to policies, processes, systems, and controls

Legal and Risk Advisory

  • Support enterprise risk management matters, including investment-related risk analysis, policy development, transaction negotiation on a limited basis, and other legal analysis, as needed
  • Review commercial contracts as needed
  • Provide targeted legal and regulatory support related to the governance programs and other global real estate matters, as needed

Qualifications

  • J.D. and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
  • Four or more years of legal experience in a leading law firm, investment firm, or comparable organization
  • Demonstrated experience supporting complex processes and coordinating stakeholders across legal, investment, operations, and technology functions
  • Experience with complex transactions, corporate and legal entity structures, and related documentation
  • Experience with private equity, M&A, real estate, funds, financing, or other complex transactional matters preferred
  • Strong judgment and the ability to interpret and apply policies to complex or novel circumstances
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across geographies, functions, and levels of seniority
  • Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple concurrent, deadline-driven workstreams
  • Strong interest in legal operations, data governance, and the application of AI or automation to business processes

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
