SUMMARY

The Part-Time Operations Assistant keeps Brooklyn Basketball Training Center running smoothly on event days and in between. You'll set up and break down internal and external events — basketball, volleyball, soccer, clinics and more — and keep courts and common areas at the high standard our athletes, partners and guests expect. This role is for someone who is reliable, quick on their feet, and takes pride in a facility that looks and runs right every time.

This role will be located at Brooklyn Basketball Training Center (BBTC) in Downtown Brooklyn, NY. The Part-Time Operations Assistant will report to the Manager of Operations.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Event execution

  • Support internal and external events on site, including but not limited to basketball, volleyball, soccer, clinics, camps and rentals
  • Set up courts and spaces before events: hoops, nets, goals, tables, chairs, signage, scorer's tables and equipment
  • Break down and store equipment after events, returning every space to its standard layout
  • Act as a visible, helpful point of contact for coaches, participants, renters and guests during events
  • Adjust quickly to schedule changes, late requests and quick court flips between sessions

Facility upkeep

  • Keep courts, lobbies, locker rooms and common areas clean, organized and event-ready at all times
  • Dry mop courts before, between and after sessions to keep surfaces clean and safe
  • Restock supplies and keep equipment rooms and storage areas organized
  • Complete opening, closing and walkthrough checklists accurately

Identify and escalate issues

  • Spot maintenance, safety and cleanliness issues during walkthroughs and events (wet spots, damaged equipment, lighting, HVAC, restrooms)
  • Report and escalate issues promptly to the Operations team with clear details and photos when possible
  • Follow up to make sure issues are logged and resolved
  • Follow all safety procedures and support emergency protocols as needed

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Experience in facility operations, event staffing, recreation, hospitality or sports
  • Familiarity with basketball, volleyball or soccer court and field setups
  • High school diploma or equivalent; must be 18 or older
  • MUST be available on weekends; evening and holiday shifts as events require
  • Shifts vary with the event calendar; schedules are shared in advance whenever possible
  • Able to stand, walk and move around for extended periods
  • Able to lift, push and carry up to 50 lbs (tables, goals, equipment)

WHO YOU ARE

  • Reliable: you show up on time, every time, and follow through on what you're assigned
  • Quick on your feet: you think fast, stay calm under pressure and solve problems as they come up
  • High standards: you notice details and take pride in a clean, well-run facility
  • Service-minded: friendly, professional and helpful with athletes, families, coaches and partners
  • Team player: takes direction well, communicates clearly and pitches in wherever needed

COMPENSATION

$20.00 per hour

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Works primarily at the BBTC facility but may be expected to attend games and other events on evenings, weekends and holidays. Will require you to work weekends and/or nights as needed.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
