Commercial Building Maintenance | Full-Time | $70,000–$85,000 + super Enjoy variety, solving problems and getting things done?
Established Melbourne business specialising in commercial building maintenance, repairs and minor building works. We work with commercial property managers, businesses and other organisations to keep their properties operating and deliver practical building solutions.
We're looking for a capable, organised and resourceful all-rounder to join our small team.
This is a hands-on coordination role with plenty of variety. You'll take responsibility for progressing everyday maintenance jobs, dealing with clients and subcontractors, organising works and helping keep the office running smoothly.
We're not necessarily looking for someone with years of building maintenance experience. We're more interested in finding someone with initiative, good judgement, confidence and a genuine willingness to learn.
What you'll be doing
- Receiving maintenance requests, assessing requirements and organising the next steps.
- Arranging subcontractors, site inspections and scheduled maintenance works.
- Obtaining trade quotations, preparing routine pricing and assisting with pricing requests for larger works.
- Following up outstanding quotations, client approvals, work orders and subcontractor responses.
- Communicating with clients and trades to resolve issues and keep jobs progressing.
- Coordinating approved maintenance jobs through to completion.
- Maintaining accurate job records and preparing completed works for invoicing.
- Assisting with general office administration, correspondence, records, supplies and other day-to-day tasks.
- Supporting colleagues and contributing practical ideas to improve the way we work.
Requirements
The person we're looking for
You're someone who enjoys taking responsibility, solving problems and seeing things through.
You're confident on the phone, comfortable dealing with different personalities and persistent when something needs following up. You can work through difficult situations professionally without taking everything personally.
You don't need constant direction to recognise when something needs attention. You'll investigate, ask questions, consider alternatives and take sensible action.
Just as importantly, you're a good listener who values other people's experience. You'll be curious about how things work and why, enjoy learning from experienced colleagues and tradespeople, and apply what you've learned to new situations.
We also value the knowledge, ideas and contacts you bring from your own personal and professional experience.
You'll bring:
- Strong organisation and the ability to manage multiple jobs and competing priorities.
- Initiative, practical problem-solving skills and sound judgement.
- Confident, professional written and verbal communication.
- Good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Reliability, attention to detail and a willingness to take ownership of results.
- A collaborative attitude, openness to feedback and respect for colleagues' experience.
- The confidence to make everyday decisions and the judgement to seek advice on technical or commercial matters.
- An interest in learning about commercial buildings, maintenance and the trades.
Experience in service coordination, trades administration, construction, property management or another busy operational environment would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
Experience with ServiceM8 or similar job management software would be helpful, but can be taught.
Benefits
Why Join Us?
You'll be part of a small, established business where your contribution is visible and valued.
We offer:
- A varied role with genuine responsibility and independence.
- The opportunity to learn from experienced building industry professionals.
- Structured training and support as you develop your skills.
- A friendly, practical working environment with a small office team.
- The opportunity to contribute ideas and help improve how the business operates.
- Competitive remuneration based on your experience and capability.
This is a predominantly office-based role suited to someone who enjoys working with others but is equally comfortable managing their responsibilities independently.
If you're a capable all-rounder who enjoys learning, taking initiative and getting things done, we'd love to hear from you.
