This team works on the lending side of Built as we partner with financial institutions to streamline the construction lending industry! Built’s platform is responsible for processing 10% of all U.S construction spend and serving as the critical link between lenders and borrowers. We're looking for a candidate that can hit the ground running and make an immediate impact on our team and organization. With a lot of exciting work coming down our pipeline, we're in search of a proactive self-starter that can serve as a point of technical expertise on the team as well as a mentor to more junior team members.

Engineers at Built are Technical Leaders who:

  • Deliver complex end-to-end solutions involving multiple components and teams, addressing ambiguity and driving initiatives aligned with team OKRs.
  • Assess technical solutions to ensure they align with product strategy, providing insightful recommendations on priorities and trade-offs.
  • Lead large-scale refactors and system upgrades, estimating scope and proactively managing risks in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Expand into architectural and systems thinking, documenting system structures and processes clearly for cross-team understanding.
  • Serve as technical leaders and mentors, enabling team growth by delegating responsibilities and fostering collaboration.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to deliver impactful business outcomes.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in core backend engineering, including scalable APIs, service design, and database modeling.
  • Expertise in database design and performance optimization, with both relational and non-relational databases.
  • Knowledge of computer science fundamentals such as object-oriented design, algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis.
  • Proven experience designing and deploying systems using AWS services in production environments.
  • Track record of success enabling engineering teams and business outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with building customer facing React applications, ideally leveraging TypeScript
  • Experience building production backend API’s supporting customer facing features
  • Full-stack development is strongly preferred, but mastery of front-end with the desire to achieve full-stack competency is possible.
  • A passion for building quality, testable code leveraging automation and a habit for actively improving the quality of a codebase “in passing."
  • A “player-coach” mentality, capable of simultaneously making strong technical contributions while mentoring others within the context of small cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, especially within website, application servers, network, and databases
  • A strong focus on our customers, both internal and external.
  • High ownership and accountability of delivery and your work product.
  • Optionally, experience with a refactoring initiative or contributing to a legacy codebase.
  • Experience working in a growing company, Start-Up or Growth Stage

Tech Stack:

  • Microservices Development: Node, GraphQL, schema-driven design, and API best practices.
  • Frontend Frameworks: React, Redux, single-spa, or similar front-end technologies.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Tools such as Kubernetes, Terraform, Pulumi, or CDK for scalable and reliable infrastructure.
  • Service-Oriented Architecture: Building platform teams, shared services, and modular architectures.
  • Backend Frameworks: Nest.JS with TypeScript or Python Frameworks (Django, Fast API or Flask API)
  • DynamoDB and MySQL for our database
  • AWS for infrastructure and hosting
  • Docker & Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration
  • GitHub for source code management and continuous integration

If you are passionate about building high-impact software and solving meaningful problems, we would love to hear from you!

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
