About Us:

At BD Diesel Performance we're constantly striving not to be simply the best, but to be better. As part of Burnout Brands, we are a leading manufacturer and supplier of high-performance diesel parts across North America. From our state-of-the-art facility in Abbotsford, we design, manufacture, and distribute products that support the diesel truck aftermarket and are trusted across the industry.

We are a fast-paced, production-oriented machine shop with a strong focus on quality, innovation, and continuous improvement. As we continue to grow, we are looking for skilled individuals to join our expanding team. If you are an experienced Machinist or Operator, there is an opportunity for you to build your career with us.

Position Overview:

BD Diesel is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior CNC Programmer to support the development, maintenance, and improvement of CNC programs within our machine shop. This entry-level position is suited to someone who has completed a post-secondary machinist/CNC programming program and is looking to build their technical skills in a production manufacturing environment.

Working under the guidance of the CNC Programmer Team Lead and experienced machinists, this individual will assist with CNC programming, tooling selection, setup documentation, program verification, and production support. The role combines computer-based programming with hands-on shop floor learning to develop safe, accurate, and repeatable machining processes.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in machining principles, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to quality and safety. Previous work experience is an asset but is not required; relevant school projects and practical training will be considered.

This role is based onsite in Abbotsford.

Why Join Us?

At BD Diesel, we value our people and invest in their success. Employees enjoy:

  • Competitive compensation and pay based on experience
  • Opportunities for career growth in a growing company
  • A supportive, collaborative, and safety-focused work environment
  • Hands-on experience with state-of-the-art equipment and high-performance products
  • Being part of a recognized and respected brand in the diesel aftermarket

We are committed to helping our team thrive while producing the highest-quality products in the industry.

Schedule: 4x10 Schedule Monday-Friday, with the specific days and hours to be confirmed.

Pay: $27-$32 / Per Hour

Requirements

  • Assist with developing and modifying CNC programs for milling and turning equipment using CAD/CAM software, under the guidance of the CNC Programmer Team Lead.
  • Review technical drawings and CAD models to understand part dimensions, tolerances, materials, and machining requirements.
  • Assist with selecting cutting tools, toolpaths, feeds, speeds, and machining sequences appropriate to the equipment and material.
  • Use CAM simulation and established verification procedures to identify potential programming errors, collisions, and machining concerns before programs are released.
  • Submit new and revised programs for review and approval before production use, following established procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain setup sheets, tooling lists, work instructions, and other machining documentation.
  • Support machine setups, supervised program prove-outs, and first-piece inspections alongside experienced machinists.
  • Use precision measuring instruments to check machined components against drawing and quality requirements.
  • Assist with troubleshooting programming and machining issues, seeking guidance when problems exceed current training or experience.
  • Support improvements to cycle times, setup efficiency, tool life, and machining quality.
  • Assist with tooling and work holding preparation, including basic fixture concepts under supervision.
  • Maintain accurate program files and revision records in accordance with company standards.
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality to support machining requirements for existing products and new product development.
  • Participate in training and apply feedback to build proficiency in CNC programming, machining practices, and CAD/CAM software.
  • Follow established safety procedures and contribute to housekeeping, 5S, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support production as needed, including operating CNC equipment, running parts, and assisting machinists to help meet production schedules and shop priorities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Management.

Education & Experience

  • Completion of a post-secondary certificate or diploma in machining and CNC programming, or a closely related program with substantial CNC programming and practical machining training.
  • No previous industry work experience required. Co-op placements, internships, summer employment, or other machine shop experience are assets.
  • Foundational knowledge of CNC milling and turning, cutting tools, machining sequences, feeds, and speeds.
  • Practical exposure to CAD/CAM software through education or employment; familiarity with GibbsCAM is an asset.
  • Basic understanding of G-code and M-code.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and interpret dimensions and tolerances, with introductory knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments, including calipers and micrometers.
  • Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and basic mathematical and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn, follow established procedures, ask questions, and apply feedback.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a production environment.
  • Commitment to safe work practices, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
