Position Overview
We are looking for an Senior STR / Investigations Specialist to conduct financial crime investigations and support the preparation of Suspicious Transaction/Activity Reports (STRs/SARs). The role will be responsible for analysing escalated cases, assessing suspicious activity, documenting investigation conclusions and preparing high-quality regulatory reports for review and approval.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct end-to-end financial crime investigations arising from transaction monitoring, internal escalations and other AML controls.
- Analyse transaction activity, customer profiles, KYC information, on-chain activity and other relevant data to identify potential suspicious activity.
- Prepare clear and well-supported investigation conclusions, including recommendations on whether cases should be escalated for STR/SAR filing.
- Draft STR/SAR narratives and supporting documentation in accordance with internal standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Ensure assigned investigations and STR/SAR cases are completed accurately and within required timelines.
- Identify complex, high-risk or unusual cases and escalate them to the STR / Investigations Manager or relevant MLRO.
- Maintain complete and accurate case records with clear audit trails and supporting evidence.
- Work with Transaction Monitoring, KYC, AML Operations and other Compliance teams to obtain information required for investigations.
- Identify emerging typologies, recurring risk patterns and potential control gaps observed through investigations.
- Support quality reviews, regulatory enquiries, audits and remediation activities relating to investigations and suspicious transaction reporting.
Requirements
- 3+ years of relevant experience in AML, transaction monitoring, financial crime investigations or suspicious transaction reporting.
- Practical experience investigating unusual or suspicious transaction activity and documenting investigation outcomes.
- Familiarity with STR/SAR preparation and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Strong understanding of AML/CFT principles, investigation methodologies and financial crime typologies.
- Experience using transaction monitoring, case management or blockchain analytics tools.
- Experience in digital assets, crypto, fintech, payments or financial services is preferred.
- Strong analytical, written communication and documentation skills.
- Comfortable working across multiple jurisdictions, deadlines and case priorities.
