The posting

Shape quality capability in a growing Malaysian manufacturing operation and drive right-first-time outcomes in a highly regulated aerospace and defence environment.

Based in Malaysia, this is an opportunity to join a growing manufacturing operation in the early stages of its development. As the first Quality Engineer appointed locally, you will lead the implementation and local adaptation of established quality processes across suppliers, internal operations and customers, while helping embed a culture of compliance, prevention and continuous improvement.

Supported by the established quality team at our Australian headquarters, you will work closely with Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Program teams, customers and suppliers to drive and deliver quality outcomes on site in Malaysia. You will lead investigations, strengthen supplier and internal quality controls, support customer requirements and use data to improve product conformity, delivery performance and customer satisfaction.

What you’ll do

  • Qualify, assess and develop suppliers, including audits, onboarding, approval maintenance and performance reviews.
  • Define supplier quality requirements and lead part qualification, sample approvals, PPAP or FAI activities for new products and engineering changes.
  • Lead investigations into supplier, internal and customer nonconformances using 8D, 5-Why and other structured root cause methods.
  • Manage NCR, MRB, CAPA, containment, disposition and effectiveness verification while reducing scrap and rework.
  • Act as a quality interface for customers, including quality reviews, returns, corrective actions and compliance documentation.
  • Maintain and improve the quality management system, support internal and external audits, and develop procedures, work instructions and control plans.
  • Facilitate APQP, PFMEA, control plan, MSA and SPC activities for new product introductions, transfers and process changes.
  • Use quality data and Lean or Six Sigma methods to improve first-pass yield, reduce variation and strengthen right-first-time performance.

What you’ll bring

  • A degree in electrical, electronic, manufacturing, industrial, mechatronics or mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience in a related discipline.
  • Quality engineering experience in an electronics, electrical, electro-mechanical or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems and NCR and CAPA processes.
  • Practical experience with root cause analysis, 8D, FMEA, control plans, MSA, SPC and related quality tools.
  • The ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, bills of materials, specifications and test requirements.
  • Experience in supplier quality and customer-facing quality problem solving.
  • Strong analytical, risk-based decision-making and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Professional written and verbal English communication skills.

Desirable experience

  • Experience in aerospace, defence, rail, electronics or another highly regulated industry.
  • Experience with wire harness, cable or other electrical and electro-mechanical assembly processes.
  • Knowledge of AS9100, IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-A-610 and manufacturing traceability requirements.
  • Experience with ERP, MRP or QMS systems, including SyteLine or a similar platform.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, Minitab or similar data analysis and reporting tools.
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, ISO 9001 or AS9100 Lead Auditor certification.

About you

You are organised, methodical and detail-focused, with a practical approach to quality and the confidence to work across suppliers, customers and shop-floor teams. You can lead structured problem solving, influence stakeholders and turn quality data into sustainable improvements in product, process and delivery performance.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
