The posting

Cache Valley Electric is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Electrical Estimator to join our commercial electrical construction team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an electrical background who wants to transition into estimating and develop a long-term career in commercial electrical construction.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience or a solid foundational understanding of electrical systems, materials, installation methods, and construction practices. Previous estimating experience is not required. We are willing to train the right candidate who brings electrical knowledge, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a desire to learn.

Working alongside experienced estimators and project teams, the Junior Electrical Estimator will learn to review construction drawings, perform material takeoffs, assist with labor calculations, obtain vendor pricing, and develop competitive bids for commercial electrical projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparing electrical estimates and competitive bids for commercial construction projects.
  • Review electrical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and bid documents to understand project scope and requirements.
  • Perform material takeoffs and assist with labor-hour calculations for electrical installations.
  • Apply knowledge of electrical systems, materials, equipment, and installation methods to support accurate estimates.
  • Obtain and compare material and equipment pricing from vendors and suppliers.
  • Assist in identifying project scope, exclusions, clarifications, and potential estimating risks.
  • Help prepare bid proposals, pricing summaries, and supporting estimating documentation.
  • Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, vendors, and internal teams to gather project information.
  • Maintain organized and accurate records of estimates, supplier quotes, and bid documents.
  • Support senior estimators with bid reviews, project handoffs, and post-bid analysis.
  • Learn and utilize electrical estimating software and industry tools.
  • Meet bid deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to read or interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, or construction documents is a plus.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, or willingness to develop these skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn estimating methods, construction processes, and estimating software.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
