The role involves ensuring the reliable operation of electric motor-driven and diesel engine-driven fire pumps, jockey pumps, controllers, and packaged fire pump systems.

The ideal candidate will have practical experience in mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance, pump servicing, fault diagnosis, and performance testing. The successful individual will work closely with service engineers, commissioning teams, and customers to identify technical issues, perform corrective maintenance, maintain service records, and ensure equipment operates safely and in accordance with applicable technical standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Fire Pump Inspection & Maintenance

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance of fire pump systems, including horizontal split-case pumps, end-suction pumps, vertical turbine pumps, and packaged fire pump systems, as applicable.
  • Inspect pump assemblies, motors, diesel engines, couplings, bearings, mechanical seals, impellers, shafts, valves, and associated accessories.
  • Check pump room equipment for leakage, abnormal noise, vibration, overheating, corrosion, and other signs of deterioration.
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance activities in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, service procedures, and maintenance plans.
  • Inspect suction and discharge piping, pressure gauges, pressure switches, strainers, and related system components.
  • Verify equipment condition and identify components requiring adjustment, repair, replacement, or further technical investigation.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and that systems are returned to operational condition after servicing.
  • Support routine inspections and maintenance activities in accordance with applicable fire protection system requirements.

Troubleshooting & Repair

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and operational faults affecting fire pumps and associated equipment.
  • Investigate pump failure, pressure loss, abnormal vibration, overheating, leakage, starting issues, and unusual operating conditions.
  • Dismantle, inspect, repair, reassemble, and replace defective pump components where required.
  • Perform maintenance on bearings, seals, couplings, impellers, shafts, and other mechanical components.
  • Troubleshoot electric motor-driven pump systems, diesel engine-driven pumps, jockey pumps, and related control equipment.
  • Assist in identifying faults involving pump controllers, pressure switches, sensors, wiring, and control circuits within the technician's competence.
  • Coordinate with service engineers or specialists when advanced diagnostics, major overhauls, or specialist repairs are required.
  • Ensure repaired equipment is inspected and tested before being returned to service.

Testing & Performance Verification

  • Conduct operational checks and assist with performance testing of fire pump systems following maintenance or repair.
  • Record relevant operating parameters, including suction pressure, discharge pressure, flow rate, and other specified measurements.
  • Assist with flow testing, pressure testing, and verification of pump operating conditions using approved procedures.
  • Check the operation of automatic and manual starting sequences, jockey pumps, and associated controllers.
  • Inspect pump and motor alignment, coupling condition, vibration, and other relevant mechanical parameters.
  • Verify that equipment operates in accordance with approved specifications and manufacturer requirements.
  • Support testing and commissioning teams during pre-commissioning, commissioning, and final inspection activities.
  • Document test results and report any deviations requiring further corrective action.
  • Follow applicable NFPA 20, NFPA 25, UL/FM requirements, and relevant UAE authority requirements where applicable to the assigned work.

Diesel Engines, Motors & Control Systems

  • Perform routine checks on diesel engine-driven fire pumps, including engine oil, coolant, fuel supply, batteries, charging systems, and starting arrangements.
  • Inspect electric motors, electrical connections, motor protection devices, and associated components within the scope of authorization.
  • Check controller indications, alarms, pressure settings, and starting or stopping functions in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Identify and report faults affecting engine starting, motor operation, battery performance, or controller functionality.
  • Assist with routine servicing and replacement of approved consumable components.
  • Ensure all electrical and mechanical maintenance activities are conducted using appropriate isolation and safety procedures.
  • Escalate complex control panel, electrical, or engine-related faults to the relevant specialist or service engineer.

Field Service & Customer Support

  • Attend customer sites to inspect, service, troubleshoot, and repair fire pump equipment.
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance visits and respond to breakdown service requests according to assigned priorities.
  • Coordinate with customers and site representatives to understand equipment issues, maintenance history, and operational concerns.
  • Explain identified faults, completed repairs, and recommended corrective actions to customers in a clear and professional manner.
  • Assist with equipment installation, replacement, retrofitting, and site service activities where required.
  • Ensure service work is completed within agreed timelines while maintaining technical and safety standards.
  • Support customer inspections, service visits, and technical investigations.
  • Maintain professional conduct and ensure customer sites are left clean and orderly after maintenance activities.

Spare Parts, Tools & Service Documentation

  • Identify spare parts and consumables required for preventive maintenance and corrective repairs.
  • Inspect replacement components for suitability and compatibility with the relevant pump model.
  • Maintain proper records of parts used, components replaced, labour performed, and outstanding maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure tools, testing instruments, and service equipment are maintained in good working condition.
  • Prepare service reports detailing equipment condition, faults identified, work performed, test results, and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance histories and equipment service records.
  • Report spare parts shortages, recurring failures, and equipment issues to the service supervisor.
  • Coordinate with stores and procurement teams to ensure the timely availability of required service materials.

Health, Safety & Quality Compliance

  • Follow established health, safety, and environmental procedures during all maintenance and service activities.
  • Ensure appropriate personal protective equipment is used and safe working practices are followed.
  • Apply equipment isolation, lockout/tagout, and verification procedures before carrying out maintenance where required.
  • Follow safe procedures when working with electrical equipment, rotating machinery, pressurized systems, and diesel engines.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in workshops, pump rooms, and customer sites.
  • Report incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and equipment hazards promptly.
  • Ensure maintenance work follows approved service procedures, manufacturer recommendations, and applicable quality requirements.

  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing
