Job Description

About Us | Mō mātou

At the Department of Internal Affairs, we record every life and every death, every marriage and every name change. Our work really does impact the life of every New Zealander. We’re passionate about this country and the people that call it home.

The Testing practice sits within Enterprise Digital Services, a branch dedicated to supporting the rest of the Department to succeed by providing corporate services that help business groups and people within DIA to make the best contribution to New Zealand

The role | Te tūnga

This is a 6-month fixed term role taking you into 2027. It’s a fantastic opportunity to support a team while contributing to improve our Testing practice. You will support the planning of workforce needs, recruit and grow talent, and build an inclusive, collaborative culture that supports learning, innovation and wellbeing.

Help shape our testing capability and strategy, align resources with business demand, and oversee delivery, governance and quality standards. You will champion the latest tools and methods, and partner with clients, vendors and senior stakeholders to provide expert advice and drive continuous improvement.

What you bring | Nōu te rourou

  • Experience leading testing teams and engagements in a large organisation, preferably in the public sector, and coaching and developing staff.
  • Experience managing testing for technical and business transformation projects, including a successful major service implementation.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of software development lifecycle (SDLC) principles.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and their relevance to the Department.
  • Sound knowledge of risk management.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to resolve complex problems and exercise sound judgement in making or recommending decisions.

For you | Mōu

At Internal Affairs, we’re proud of the culture we’re building—collaborative, forward-thinking, and open to new ideas. You’ll be supported to do your best work, grow your impact, and challenge the status quo where it matters.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

The numbers game

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once per CV, from $25. Every application goes out with its own CV, written for that posting.
