The posting
Help tell the story of a place that has impacted lives since 1941.
Every day at Canossaville, a Catholic charity, we nurture each child in her or his own way, forming hearts, enlightening minds and empowering spirits, while families in need find the support they need.
We may be Sallim Road’s best-kept secret 🤫, and we’re looking for the person who will change that. Consider this your permission to let the cat out of the bag!
As our Senior Executive, Communications & Public Relations, you’ll bring our PR, media, marketing and digital work together into one voice, telling Canossaville’s story and shaping how we show up in the public space: online, in print, at our events, in the community and in the media. You’ll help the public, our donors and partners understand who we are and why our work matters, so that people don’t just hear about Canossaville, they care. And you’ll see your work turn into support for the children and families we serve.
One week, you might be pitching a story to the media. The next, you’re designing invitations or fundraising and engagement collaterals, hosting a guest-of-honour at one of our events, and turning the day into something people share. Often, you’ll be vetting photos and captions to make sure they say the right things in the right way. At other times, you’ll be dreaming up the backdrops, signage and displays that make a charity event shine.
What you’ll do
• Keep our platforms running. Manage our website and social media day to day: plan the content calendar, write and schedule posts, respond to comments and messages, and track what’s working.
• Grow our reach. Raise awareness of Canossaville and our programmes and services, planning campaigns and seeing them through, from newsletters and mailers to collaterals and ads, in support of our outreach and fundraising.
• Support our events, campaigns and outreach. Create the design and communications behind them, from invitations and publicity to on-the-day coverage, look after our guests-of-honour and VIP guests, and step up as second host at events.
• Put Canossaville in the news. Build relationships with journalists, pitch stories that get picked up, run briefings and visits, and prepare our leaders for interviews and events.
• Tell stories that move people. Write and produce our annual report, newsletters and impact stories, and capture the moments that show the difference we make.
• Protect what matters most. Uphold consent, privacy and the dignity of every child and family in everything we publish.
• Work smart. Bring your know-how and curiosity about AI tools, and a willingness to experiment, so routine work moves faster and more of your time goes into the ideas.
What you’ll bring
• A storyteller’s instinct, and an eye for a good visual.
• A good eye behind the camera: you know how to capture the pictures that tell the story that needs to be told.
• An excellent command of English, with impeccable (and impeccably creative!) writing skills.
• Confidence with people, from partners, journalists and guests-of-honour to the children and families we serve.
• Initiative and ownership: you see what needs doing and get it done.
• Resilience and resourcefulness: when things don’t go to plan, you find a way.
• Curiosity about new tools and ideas, and how they can make good work faster.
• … and most crucially, a heart for community.
Requirements
• A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in PR, communications or marketing, including media relations: you’ve pitched, followed up and landed coverage.
• Experience in marketing (inclusive of digital marketing), social media, website content and advertising, with working knowledge of SEO and web analytics.
• An excellent command of English, with impeccable, creative and persuasive writing and copywriting skills.
• Working knowledge of design and content tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud or Cap Cut, as well as photography and videography.
• Strong project and event planning skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Good understanding of the Personal Data Protection Act and of consent requirements.
• Familiarity with AI tools and a willingness to use them to work smarter.
• Experience in the non-profit or social service sector will be advantageous.
Why join us
• Your work will matter. Our vision is simple: forming hearts, transforming lives and empowering communities. Every story you tell helps open doors for a child and a family, and sustains the good work that makes it possible.
• You’ll be trusted with real responsibility, working closely with the Head of Partnerships & Communications in a lean team entering its next chapter, where your work counts.
• You’ll be part of a community guided by charity, humility, forgiveness and faith.
• You’ll grow: you’ll try new tools and ideas, and see your work reach the public.
• Our work happens where the community is. Some evenings and weekends are part of the role, at events, outreaches and celebrations that make the effort worthwhile.
How to apply
Send us your resume and a portfolio of your writing and campaign work. In your cover letter, tell us how you’d let Sallim Road’s best-kept secret out: share one idea to help more people discover Canossaville, and why it would work. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete two short practical writing tasks during the interview, so you can show us what you can do.
